2 Queens political dynasties challenged by civic leaders

From the Queens Chronicle:

Longtime Juniper Park Civic Association President Bob Holden is running for City Council.

The Middle Village resident exclusively told the Chronicle of his plans on Tuesday, two days ahead of what he says will be his official announcement of a Democratic primary challenge against Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley (D-Glendale) at Thursday’s Juniper Park Civic Association meeting.

The fiery Holden's biggest inspiration to run is simple, he said. District 30 desperately needs new leadership.

"We're at a point where we simply can't have Elizabeth Crowley for four more years," Holden said. "It it wasn't Crowley in charge, maybe I wouldn't run. But it's time the neighborhood had some leadership at City Hall and in the community."

The leader of his civic association for decades, Holden has long been a fierce critic of Crowley — a cousin of Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, Bronx) — claiming she is ineffective and out-of-touch with neighborhood residents.

"I think it's my turn to step up," he said. "I know I'm going against the party machine and it's going to get nasty. But I know how to fight. I've demonstrated that."

And as we know, long time civic advocate Paul Graziano is running against Paul Vallone.

We live in interesting times!

I don't live in this district, but the Crowley dynasty must end. And why not start with that duplicitous illiterate failed artist bubblehead.

This should be interesting.

I wonder if Mister Holden has hired a food taster yet?

Politics is a blood sport...

QC, no mention of Curtis confirming his run against Katz? It is in the Queens papers (though I do note his absence on the NYCCFB candidate list so far).

No mention yet if Stinky is going to opt out of NYC's public campaign-finance program. The big developers, including REBNY, will likely shell out big bucks to get Vallone re-elected.

We need civic leaders, doers, in our council, not corrupt politicians who have done nothing for their communities before being handpicked by the corrupt Queens Machine.

we are in desperate need of some republicans. Changing one Democrat with another is like changing Mao with Castro. But do not ultimately blame them, yet those who keep voting them..

"May you live in interesting times," is a traditional Chinese curse. Just mentioning.

Excellent. We need to start ripping apart the Queens Machine.

Alas, ALL politicians in Queens County are like defective lightbulbs: One defective one is eventually replaced with an equally defective dim bulb, or one that is worse than its replacement!

Now, seriously folks: Haven't We, the People 'Been There, Done That' before? As long as the two-party-machine-failed system is beholden to corporate obedience, party machine bosses, money in politics and a Neo-Feudal, Neo-Fascist, Neo-Bolshevist and Neo-Liberal, FOISTED ORDER on everything else that continues to CONTINUALLY betray all pretense of public trust, ethics, character, integrity, principle, accountability and transparency, then what's the point of challenging one crooked-and-corrupt, cradle-to-grave candidate, only to get the same 300% false, fake and failed leadership (that doesn't lead by example) in another 'hungry' candidate, when all the new guy is interested in achieving is the same taxpayer-funded, defined pension program and benefits that SHOULD ALWAYS have been designated for the rank and file (which would finally demonstrate leadership for a candidate's subjects instead of himself)? This isn't nuclear fission, y'all!

Don't fall for it (again and STILL!), Queens Crappers——the system is entirely rigged for epic, constituent fail. That's why voter turnout in this already (and long ago), ravaged and tonsured borough (and cultural wasteland of immigrants and REBNY obedient politicians) is at its lowest in the history of voting, because the people have given up on this monstrously self-serving system in the SAME way that all crooked politicians have given up on them (whilst creating a hostile environment, no less, and behaving like unresponsive tyrants and reinforcing a dereliction of public duty, with impunity——it's a perpetually vicious cycle of the 'Illusion of Progress').

In the end, Bob Holden will be JUST as beholden to the hyper-corrupt, party-machine-failed system as his predecessor is right now——and, the public be eternally duped, bilked, scammed and damned!

And, just like the late, great Yogi Berra would say: ❝It's 'Deja Vu' all over again.❞

Displace those machine bums!

Sorry to burst your bubble, Jerry Rotondi, but Paul and Bob are not the solution, they are merely the next generation of all systemic, Queens County political corruption, graft, endless greed, cover-ups, kickbacks, payoffs, cronyism, nepotism, favoritism, dereliction of public duty and a total betrayal of the oath of public office that instantly creates a hostile environment that is reinforced by unresponsive tyrants, all of whom are only interested in what they can get out of this taxpayer-funded cesspool for themselves.

Because, in case you didn't get the memo (and, clearly you haven't), ALL politicians (not public servants), do not give a flying F**K about you, and they never HAVE——and, they NEVER WILL!

NOW DO YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND?

Obviously the cynical bubble-headed dweeb above does not know Graziano and Holden. Both having been volunteering their time for years for the greater good and the jerk commenter above should start to pay attention to the good guys instead of painting with an ignorant broad brush.

Enjoy your fantasy illusion about politicians, last snarky (and clueless) Anonymous, whom you blindly and laughably deem as honest and ethical, just because they volunteer their time that only buttressess their party-machine fueled campaigns. Of course they have to create visibility for themselves——but that doesn't make them any pretense of what you call 'good guys, any more than it would make me a car if I should stand in my garage.

And, I don't need a namecalling, sucker-nobody like you to editorialize my post, especially given how you've already displayed your massive ignorance and extremely poor judgment in trusting ANY politician (not public servant), all of whom made the mess for everyone else in 'Fourth World Queens County' in the first place——as they once again ironically dupe everyone into believing that it is they themselves who've got the answers to clean it all up (again and STILL)!

Unlike you, when people show me their true colors——I believe them the FIRST time!
