More restoration work at the Steinway Mansion

The portico roof of the Steinway Mansion is being reconstructed.

George the Atheist has a photo history.

Ug, that Halberian white trim is totally unauthentic. This guy has not the foggiest notion or plan on what to do with this building - except ripping out its historic interior and replacing it with Formica and Congoleum.

The pedestrian taste of Vallonia.

Only in Queens.

Now why would you clad the mansion tower's cupola, the highest point on the building, in metal? See George's photos here. A lightning strike invite to burn the entire building down?

I think the culture in Vallonia is so degraded all these people see is 'dirt'. Nothing else in their world has value.

And as far as getting outside help in the Real World? The received wisdom from the adults that appreciate this place?

Any community that does things like this pretty much fits the same word, only in a different context.

I see an accident happening at the mansion. Just going by all the nonsense going on at the millions of development sites going on.

I was wondering what that was at the top of the mansion. Good eye Ben

Oh, dear. What a mess. BUt then you see it throughout Queens. It started long ago, after the great wave of immigrants at the turn of the 20th century. They made their money and then began doing renovations on their first homes, bringing their homeland's aesthetic here, but with the sensibility of what a poor immigrant thinks "rich" and "luxury" looks like.

Ah, Benjamin Franklin, as I recall you are the so called inventor of the lighting rod.

And it seems you are shamelessly and blatantly peddling your wares right here on Queens Crap!

I hope you remit some proper commission to the lovely lady running this wonderful public service and NOT profiteering blog for all of their troubles...

Take a look at all the players - all are plugged in. This has nothing to do with immigrants and everything to do with greed and stupidity and ignorance. Joe Crowley and Peter Vallone Sr are both responsible for running things, selecting people to run those things who in tern select people and projects that do this to our community. Both passed on doing anything here for the community. Anything that happens here will be charged to their account.

There were other options - and there still are other options. Yes, making the tower a lighting rod looks damn suspicious. If the owner was smart he would take the money and run while he is ahead. The operative word here is 'smart'.

BTW, check out HERE the exquisitely beautiful vista to see available to anyone standing on the steps of the Mansion portico. A wonderful inspiring sight to behold in this our fair borough of Queens.

"check out HERE the exquisitely beautiful vista"
---
I think you mean "Vista View" like in Joshua tree national park George
That's likely gonna be for party's or some private romp room whore house. I assume it can even be a private strip club or some kinda joint for rich weirdos perhaps ?
--Anyway nobody's gonna give a shit because it's a PALACE in contrast to the shitholes most Queens populate came from today.

Time to cash out of New York and hide $$ now, Republicrat Senate are gonna gonna be all tossed out on their asses, then a lame duck Trump out on his ass over seating that moron Paul Ryan and failure to repeal Obamacare. It will then be Democrats forever and the end of the country. Socialism "in" taking $60% of all your assets.
