Hipster beer beach shut down by DOB

It's really gotta suck to be one of these "urban pioneers" and find out the hard way that the shit you're peddling ain't going over with certain community minded folk. Let's take the Ridgewood beer beach. It got shut down by the DOB just before tomorrow's scheduled grand opening. Why? Well they are doing construction on a building without a permit.
The C of O for this property also does not allow a "beer beach" or whatever the hell this thing is supposed to be.
But you wanna know what's really amusing about this? They are trying to pass off their delayed opening as a concession to the community. From QNS:

Marcus Burnett, co-owner of Rockaway Brewing Company, which is hosting La Playa NYC, is working to address the community’s issues with the beer garden.

“We are trying to work with Community Board 5 and we understand that residents are raising concerns,” Burnett said. “One common misconception is that there is going to be live bands or live music. There will be no live bands and no DJ parties, that’s for sure.”

No live music or DJs? Then please explain this previous statement:

Throughout the summer La Playa NYC will also feature local talent including DJs, guest chefs, beer talks and special performances, ensuring a summer of beach, beer and fun for the whole community.
Here's the cherry on top of this shit sundae:

The opening of La Playa NYC depends on the results of the SLA hearing, which is scheduled to take place later this month.

So you were going to open without a liquor permit, but as a favor to the community, decided to wait until you actually had the SLA hearing? How wonderful of you.

YOU LIE, YOU LOSE!

They might as well open anyways. DOB does nothing to enforce the rules. Developers do what they want all the time.

Actually, that artwork is quite interesting. All else sucks!

My money is on them opening. There's no enforcement, and the dollars to be made too great.

From those photos, it is a literal manifestation of a shit sundae. That dirt looks fucking poisonous and they planned to cover it with federal approved sand swiped from Long Island.

This is glorious blowback deriving from the corrupt axis of moneyed developers, venture capitalists and city hall trying to remake the city under the rubric of affordable housing and attempting to immensely profit from it. I will say it again, although this is not as odious as the 45 Rivington street property flipping and plundering, this was just as diabolical for this was supposed to be used for affordable housing. And this was attempted so childishly too, since it's basically a big playground for generation gentrification.

The scumbags of Rockaway Swillery must have known their idiotic plans were going under, but they still were defiant in their dishonesty. Good job by the (true) residency and Queens Crap to get this nonsense shut down. Besides, those fucking fucks actually have a beer beach in Rockaway too(??!), by the fucking beach.

And this is not about some generation gap bullshit. Yeah, we all use to get loaded and get wild in the streets when we were younger, but it wasn't financed by the government or geared and marketed by real estate speculation and advertising like it is today. You wanna do this shit, fine but don't pilfer from taxpayers to pay and enable your perpetual arrested development lifestyles (you know, Kidult, shit I did not want to write that word).

Another thing about these fucking fuck hipshit craft brewers, is that they are benefiting from Mario's Son startNY program by getting tax exemptions for starting their businesses since the law was enacted. So the taxpayers are basically the biggest investors in this insolvent business model. Really does anyone think these beers are really going to sell beyond those faux speakeasies in bodegas, delis and supermarkets?

I wonder if they hired 5 pointz to paint their walls or if it one of those derivative developer sponsored hacks. The only appropriate mural that should be painted there now is Nelson Muntz.

I hope a giant cat drops a meaty dump in that litter box.

If they need local talent & DJs to attract customers they already screwed themselves. All the kids I know go to Williamsburg for music, booze & hangout (its the New East Village) Without saltwater storm tides that sand will be infested with lice, fleas, greenfly knats, fungus and chiggers in no time. (and it likely already is)

Was that sand Quarantined or even treated ?
How can the board of health even allow this ?

Another fatalist moron who brings everyone down. Stay off this blog and lock yourself in your depressing room with plenty of meds.
