Sandy-damaged properties up for auction

From AM-NY:

More than three years ago, superstorm Sandy devastated homes across the Northeast, many of them right here in New York City.

In the aftermath of Sandy, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Office of Storm Recovery was tasked with purchasing damaged homes in an effort to help rebuilding efforts within some of the city’s hard-hit communities.

Now, New York state has teamed up with Paramount Realty USA to auction dozens of homes in Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn for less than their pre-storm values.

With bids starting as low as $14,650, these Sandy-damaged homes might just be your opportunity to plant new roots in New York City at a much lower cost.

The auction will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1100 South Ave., in Staten Island on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.

For complete information on these homes and for due diligence information, head to prusa.com.

To register for the auction, you can submit a completed bidder’s affidavit to info@prusa.com or fax it to (516) 558-1148.

It's a developers dream come true! Just call mayor dumblasio and I'm sure he'll call in some favors to buy up these houses!

That house is in broad channel. the residents there better be wary of unscrupulous buyers and predator developers.

Especially the latter, because there are certainly plans to make that area more tourist-frendly like they are doing in rockaway

Maybe I will see some of you there.

Looks like a cute doll house with that nice picket fence...until the next flood.
Not worth it at any price...unless you move it.

Oh, just wait.....help is on the way.

NYC's "Rapid Repair" is coming. They'll have your gas and electric up in a jiffy.

And after that, billions of dollars for Sandy relief efforts have been secured too..(that's what Chuck Schumer said so it must be true).

And I know FEMA is willing to help at a moment's notice.

True, it's been almost 4 years since Sandy hit. Your house will be as good as new very soon.

Really...

No kidding...

Very soon...

Any day now...

Just a little bit longer...

Almost there...

Isn't it a requirement to lift these houses? It cost 2X more then the house is worth to do that if built on mud like most of those
The residents better chip in and buy it because no doubt it will be knocked down and a replaced with a big nasty Trojan to its future

No one should be living on the coast anymore. Period. End of story. Waste of your money. Waste of tax payers money. Waste all around. Drive down for the day; go home upland at night.

Weren't these properties supposed to become public land? Reason being that this will happen again.

Oh no ... it's Commencement season, and that means Schumer will be dusting off his annual graduation speech, which is torture for those faculty and staff who hear it year after year after year...

They used more wood to build that fence than for the house.

Oh good, now scummy developers and contractors from Long Island can buy them up and replace them with shoddy junk and scam unsuspecting immigrant families out of their savings that they worked 60+ hour weeks to save up.

The auction is in Staten Island. Sending the message that they don't want real New Yorkers attending.
