Interesting old house becomes latest teardown victim

"Hi Crappie,I know how everyone likes to moan and groan when a nice old house with a big yard gets knocked down so here it goes.

Yesterday I was driving by Booth Memorial Ave.and 136 street on the corner and there was a house from around 1900 with a round front being torn down.About five years ago it was resided with cedar shingles and looked nice." - Anonymous

Yup, this will be some grade A crap to match the rest of the block.

Oh DO get in touch with the Queens Preservation Council, Katz's shadowy group that meets at Boro Hall to decide what is important and what can be tossed under the bus.

It'll eventually turn into chinese crap just like everything else has!! I still don't understand where these chinese get to pay for these houses in all cash and not one freaking person asks them questions on where they got their cash from, meanwhile me as an American has to be asked 50 million questions just to take out a mortgage!! What a country I belong to!!

I absolutely love this house. I used to admire it everytime I drove down Booth Memorial Avenue and would fantasize about owning it. This house should be landmarked, not torn down! There is not another one like it in all of Flushing! This is a total disgrace. The blame lies directly on this disgusting city, the evil developers, and the low-class filth they want to cram into every square inch of space available.

The blame lies in our borough's leadership from Katz, every official in office, to the civic groups that don't seem to be able to get their act together. The developers and low class tenants do not show up in areas of the city where communities have their act together with the backbone and wits to stand up for themselves.

All of Queens Borough Hill is heading down this path.

Build more "ranch-burgers" where a Mc Mansion won't fit. Queens insists on seeing the destruction of any interesting architecture that it has. Don't blame your pols or borough hall. You voters are the burros. You put your developer' pals (representatives) in office. Now look at the trail of Queens crap they've left on your doorstep.

Total shame and disgrace. Queens can not have anything that looks beautiful or unique. RIP pretty old home! I'm sick and tired of everything looking like Sh*t in this borough. I wish I had money and could buy restore put deed restrictions and sell these homes to people who actually like, love and appreciate them.
