Is there a blade of grass that the Buks won't pave over?

Hi Crappy,

I wrote to you some time ago about the trash problem in KGH, now I have this. This "construction" work started last week in the side yard of a semi attached in KGH. This beautiful work is being done by none other than....you guessed it, Bukharians. Other than that this probably illegal 2-family house stays up all night being loud and smoking cigarettes, but this work is beyond anything. Can this be legal? I thought the city put an end to this heinous look. The address is 137-10 70 Road. I haven't seen any construction signs anywhere.

Signed,
Pissed in KGH.

Well, if this is actually being used as a 2-family house, then it would be an illegal conversion, as DOB has it listed as a 1-family. The last complaint about that issue was closed in 1997. And paving over your front yard has been illegal since 2007, but as this appears to be a side yard, it's likely okay as per the zoning code.

I'll just sit back now and wait for one of the Buks to nastily write about how jealous we all are of them for beautifying the neighborhood and raising everyone else's property values.

the pols are cleaver trying to get the attention away from community and towards ethnic groups making behavior like this untouchable.

The Jews hate grass. Always have. Always will. It's why they invented Astroturf.

For those of us not familiar with the area, perhaps you might tell us what KGH stands for.

This is crap! The government takes too long to reply to anything! If the system is overburdened now, Then wait until these dumb mayors (that the sheeple keep putting in office) overburdens the city with another 1 million people! This city needs more deporting and less building....not the other way around!

Poor little cat must have been living in there.

Evil, evil people!

I guess people do not get the science of run-off water and what it can do.

I have two words for McMansions and paved over front yards: Jamaica Estates.

Mike -

Of course, we do. And if you believe that, I have a bridge between Brooklyn and Manhattan that I want to sell to you.

Any other dumb stereotypes that you want to dump on us today?

paving increases impervious surface: NOT allowed without DoB review/permits, so it's a violation.

Please submit the proper complaint for this violation to 311.

The Councilman for this neighborhood is Rory Lancman. Give his office a call.

The best is that they didnt even bother to pick up the crap in the yard beforehand. They simply cemented around it!!!

Most cultures have a very highly developed sense of social mores and the like - the problem is that new Americans come to a place like New York and quickly pick up that there are no rules for community preservation - most of us older Americans remember a time when there was and through force of habit adhere to those standards.

The know the machine, in old Tweeder style will pander to them, make no expectations of them, and using them as a blunt instrument to knock apart a tight community, side with them every time.

Yet another example of how communities are weakened and left vulnerable for the politicians' benefactor and friend - developers.

I just returned from London. The city has taken great steps to preserve green and community character. How come we can't take a nod from them?

Mike Francesa---why don't you keep your ignorant, anti-semitic remarks to yourself? Some people come from highly urban areas where they simply have no familiarity with keeping lawns because their previous environment was totally paved over. I guarantee you the children of these immigrants would likely have housing with lawns. If you're so concerned, why don't you go over to their homes to educate them about landscaping which does not meet YOUR approval?

I could, but I wouldn't waste my time, show you countless impeccably landscaped homes owned by Jews. Mine included.

Why is there such a hatred for people having courtyards instead of lawns?
