Hiram's got a God complex

From the Daily News:

Convicted girlfriend beater Hiram Monserrate on Sunday compared himself to murdered civil rights workers as he stepped up the fight to keep his state Senate seat.

Claiming he was targeted because he is Latino, Monserrate announced that civil rights lawyers Norman Siegel and Steve Hyman would take his case.

"Students from the college that I went to died to help African-Americans have the right to vote," Monserrate said. "Today, the Senate would seek to push back the clock and discredit the major movement that occurred here in the United States to protect the rights of all Americans."

Monserrate (D-Queens), who last summer likened himself to Jesus Christ, is fighting expulsion from the Senate after his October misdemeanor assault conviction for abusing girlfriend Karla Giraldo.

A Senate committee headed by Sen. Eric Schneiderman (D-Manhattan) found Monserrate unremorseful and recommended the Senate either expel or censure him.

Monserrate has vowed to fight expulsion with a lawsuit.

While that may be technically true, Monserrate did not personally know those students - he is not old enough

I wish he would just go away....

In a world where there are plenty of obnoxious politicians, he is the worst of the bunch. Hiram's head is so big it could barely get through a jail cell door. It is time for the State Senate to do what the criminal justice system could not: kick Monserrate out of power and shut his mouth for good.

Monserrate is morphing from acting like Attila the Hun to Jesus Christ?

Make a movie boys, we're going to sell a lot of tickets here.

Does he think he's a poster boy for Hispanic equal rights? go ahead Hiram try to use that angle.

lotsa times the perpetrators try to convince you they are the victim. The victim in this case are the taxpayers.

Except for Malcolm Smith, the coming to the aid of a fellow he would have been gone already. Hiram paid back the favor by turning on Smith.

wonder what Smith thinks now?

The Parkside group wants him out because they don't like minorities and he opposed their plans to use eminent domain at Willets Point.

There is no real reason to expell anyone from an office they were elected to for being convicted of a single misdemeanor. He was found innocent of all the more serious charges.

It should be for the voters to decide this in November.

Hiram opposed Parkside's plan to use eminent domain only until he secured deals for his biggest campaign donors. Then he was fine with it. he promised to introduce eminent domain reform to the Senate and hasn't done squat, even though Senator Perkins is taking up the issue.
