The great Queens mosaic in Jamaica

Isn't it wonderful that Queens is such a multicultural mecca? Otherwise, we would miss great events like this.

This was the scene Saturday at the Imam al-Khoeli Islamic Center in Jamaica. It was all recorded here for posterity: Getty Images. Thanks to Little Green Footballs for posting this first.

my goodness, Queens Crap has something positive to say!

Variety is the spice of life. If you want homogeneity, move to Oklahoma.

Positive? Really?

Because from the pictures I think she was being sarcastic.

I hope you were being sarcastic.

THIS is true sickness.

Do the police know this barbarity is going on?

Fuck Allah!

OK, we're done here.

these guys need to get themselves to a gym and ease off on the lamb chops.

Is that real blood they're drawing from the self-flagelations?!!!

or merely Heinz ketchup?

Where is the Tribune?
Where is the Chronicle?
Where is the Gazette?
Where is the Courier?
Where is the Ledge?
Where is the Times?

Funny. They just get so glassy eyed and groofy everytime the word immigrant is mentioned (there, like the 'u' follows the 'q', I put in the word 'Queens' in the same sentence as 'immigrant' so you can breath easy) I would be most dissappointed if they don't put these pictures in as another example of their gorgous mosaic.

This sort of primitive "religious" behavior
is indicative of the necessity of the separation of religion and state!

Religious extremism that encourages
blood letting is a disgraceful example
for the world's children to witness .

Tolerating this sort of violent behavior.
does not promote peaceful coexistance.

These "grown men"
need to go back to grade school
and learn to become more civilized.....
AND NOT to an Islamic school
if this is what is taught there!

P.S. .......
so no good peaceful Muslims will be offended.....
I've been told of Italian Catholic holy week
feasts (east Harlem in the 1930s)
by my parents.....
where "the devout"crawled on their knees
until they were bloody.... in order to kiss
a statue of the blessed Virgin Mary.
Others beat themselves to do penance!

This is in honor of a religious holiday? Need to protect these folks from each other, yet alone the general population. The Iman allows this activity in the name of Allah? I doubt Allah had this mindless practice in mind for followers to florish! Sick puppies.

Read their comment board. It's hilarious. I wonder how many grants they've received from the local pols...

I bet one day, as the Mohammedan population increases, the vermin politicians will appear at these "festivals" smiling for the cameras as they also flagellate themselves. Can you imagine Maltese, Liu, Katz, Marshall doing this?

Well they also get to hit each other. I wouldn't mind getting a few licks at them in.

"I bet one day, as the Mohammedan population increases, the vermin politicians will appear at these "festivals" smiling for the cameras as they also flagellate themselves. Can you imagine Maltese, Liu, Katz, Marshall doing this?"

I would also like to add Anthony Weiner and Charles Barron to the list of idiot politicians that would willingly flagellate themselves for the camera. Although Barron would love to flagellate Weiner, and Weiner would willingly submit!

A further example of the "greatness" of this SICKEST of religions: read last Sunday's (1/20/08)NY Times magazine article: "A Cutting Tradition: Inside A Female-Circumcision Ceremony For Young Muslim Girls"

oh and please build a mosque in my hood asap!!!!
it's my civil liberty to have this going on in my backyard!!!

Anonymous said...

Funny - I don't hear you guys talking about the barbarity of ritualistically slicing off the tip of a newborn's penis (Jews) or drinking the blood and eating the flesh of your God (Catholics) through a magical fairytale process of transubstantiation, but you're sure quick to condemn an anti-violence ritual.

You don't see Muslims getting their panties in a twist over those, but you're ready to shut the borders. Why don't you guys just group together and form some sort of Nationalist Socialist party where people do the will of the people for the common good and lack individuality.

I'll tell you why you don't - because you are anonymous cowards who are too scared to have your name in print. You berate those who put their bylines on top of their stories every week while you hide behind a shield of anonymity. Go fuck yourselves.

Queens Crapper said...

Hmm, well let's see. Circumcision is now a routine medical procedure. Whether or not you participate in the sacrament of the Eucharist or believe it to be valid, there's no physical violence happening in the middle of the streets of Queens over it. Amazing how "The Queens Media" is so damn defensive when their readers tell them they'd like to see more than the same lame asskissing of the local pol or photos of bogus award ceremonies week after week. You are supposed to be more in touch with what is important to your readers, but instead you just rehash what we read in the dailies the week before. Quite frankly, you suck.

Anonymous said...

THAT is "an anti-violence ritual"? They could have fooled me.

Anonymous said...

Brooklyn has 2 real newspapers - the Brooklyn Eagle and the Brooklyn Paper. Queens has nothing that can even come close.

Anonymous said...

Come to think of it, Staten Island has a good paper, too, called the Advance.

Anonymous said...

"You berate those who put their bylines on top of their stories every week..."

Actually, we rarely say anything negative about an actual reporter. It's the publishers we take issue with because they are the problem.

georgetheatheist said...

Achtung "The Queens Media"!

1. "A further 'example of the 'greatness' of this SICKEST of religions..." Notice the use of the superlative "-EST"...Can you name a sick-ER one?...All religions are various stages of mental fantasy...Islam is currently the most (using the superlative again) DERANGED....Are you so physically and psychically blind that you can't see what's happening in these photos?

2. "Why don't you guys just group together and form some sort of Nationalistic [sic] Socialistic party where people do the will of the people for the common good and lack individuality."

Standing en masse on a street corner of Jamaica, bloodily tearing your flesh off with the approval of Ayatollah Sistani shows your individuality?

BTW, this flagellation is a Shia Mussulman tradition. The Sunni Mussulmen condemn it as a form, get this, of "innovation" ["bidah"] and this self-whipping goes against Sunni interpretation of the Koran.

I live in Queens, the most diverse place on earth.

A shit on Ashura.

Anonymous said...

Boy, do these guy know how to party! What a festive celebration!

"Do they police know"? Sure they do and they just don't give a shit.

Anonymous said...

if these gentlemen are into being whipped they might get in contact with one of the dozens of Dominatrixes that advertise in back of our newspaper. They perform all sorts of role fantasies so I'm sure they'd be willing to say "Take that from Allah," or whatever else they'd like hearing while being flogged - or spanked.

georgetheatheist said...

The 19 Islamists on 9/11 knew how "to party" too.

Watch your ass (and your neck and head), anonymous, don't kid yourself. You, infidel, are on their shitlist.

Queens, the most diverse place on earth.

Anonymous said...

So "The Queens Media" has something to say about us being anonymous?

Anonymous said...

Notice how the atheist gets worked up about someone's personal ritual. These folks are only flogging themselves. At least they're not flogging bypassers or strangers.

Anyway, they're spilling blood to feel the pain of losing Imam Hussein. This occasion is known as Ashura, and most Shiites prefer to symbolically tap their chests with their fist, rather than spill blood. Sunni Muslims consider the bloody self-injuring to be un-Islamic.

In my religion, we also have days of mourning. However, we experience pain by fasting and praying, rather than spilling blood.

Anonymous said...

This is one weird religous "ceremony" but by no means just a muslim one. So get off your racist high-horse crapper and open your eyes.
From Italy :

More Christians in the Phillipines:

The Catholic Cathecism says it should be done " “The way of perfection passes by way of the Cross. There is no holiness without renunciation and spiritual battle. Spiritual progress entails the ascesis and mortification that gradually lead to living in the peace and joy of the Beatitudes” (n. 2015).
"Jesus' call to conversion and penance, like that of the prophets before him, does not aim first at outward works, "sackcloth and ashes," fasting and mortification, but at the conversion of the heart, interior conversion. Without this, such penances remain sterile and false; however, interior conversion urges expression in visible signs, gestures and works of penance." (CCC 1430)"

And a couple of Popes chime in -
Pope John XXIII:
But the faithful must also be encouraged to do outward acts of penance, both to keep their bodies under the strict control of reason and faith, and to make amends for their own and other people's sins... St. Augustine issued the same insistent warning: "It is not enough for a man to change his ways for the better and to give up the practice of evil, unless by painful penance, sorrowing humility, the sacrifice of a contrite heart and the giving of alms he makes amends to God for all that he has done wrong." ...But besides bearing in a Christian spirit the inescapable annoyances and sufferings of this life, the faithful ought also take the initiative in doing voluntary acts of penance and offering them to God.... Since, therefore, Christ has suffered in the flesh," it is only fitting that we be "armed with the same intent." It is right, too, to seek example and inspiration from the great saints of the Church. Pure as they were, they inflicted such mortifications upon themselves as to leave us almost aghast with admiration. And as we contemplate their saintly heroism, shall not we be moved by God's grace to impose on ourselves some voluntary sufferings and deprivations, we whose consciences are perhaps weighed down by so heavy a burden of guilt?

Pope Paul VI:
“The necessity of mortification of the flesh stands clearly revealed if we consider the fragility of our nature, in which, since Adam’s sin, flesh and spirit have contrasting desires. This exercise of bodily mortification — far removed from any form of stoicism — does not imply a condemnation of the flesh which the Son of God deigned to assume. On the contrary, mortification aims at the 'liberation' of man.”

Oh and Mother Teresea was into self-flagellation with a cilice.

I seem to recall JPII coming out against the Filipino crucifixions.

Show me where these things are done publicly in Queens or anywhere in the United States in the 21st Century for that matter. They aren't. You cited Italy, the Philippines and some long dead religious figures. If Italians or Filipinos were doing this in the streets of Jamaica, I would post that too. But they aren't.

Hey, I'm a Protestant, and I vote for the cluhouse.

Can I go into Irish neighborhoods and sack and pillage and rapine and plunder just like my forefathers who thought it was the religious thing to do?

Oh, the clubhouse is run by Irish? Let me appoint some good loyal Orangemen to run it.

Well, lads, welcome to Queens, the home of diversity you micks!

Long live Lord Protector Cromwell!!

Previous poster (who I assume was tongue in cheek) has a good point.

We may have fought and shed blood over religion years ago, but in this modern country such thoughts are repulsive.

What would happen if a bunch of Klansmen or white power types appear in Queens.

They would held in contempt.

As these yos should.

Now you see why the Roman Catholic Church is a nest of sick individuals as
well . They are basically anti-Life, anti-this world, anti-Reason. You have to suffer in the here and now for somekind of undefined reward in an undefined afterlife.

Bravo to the University of Sapienza, Italy for kicking Benedict XVI in the ass and telling his ilk they are not wanted in an institution of LEARNING. Hopefully they'd have the guts to do likewise for any Mussulman maniac.

Gird your loins, tighten your cilices for the poople, er papal, visit in April.

Real blood self-flagelations (east Harlem "the devout"crawled on their knees until they were bloody.

Variety is the spice of life - via religious extremism? Sickos - all - export yourself back to your native lands, don't corrupt our already tarnished land to cater to your sicko whims and SPICY lives.

Only the very backwards, uneducated folks do this masterbation because extremist religous folks love exploiting you and being entertained, lovely. Dance fool, dance!

Next you'll hurt others and yourself big time or jump off a bridge for your family to collect pocket money for your family to buy a BIG TV and honored by the patently false religious community by making you a saint in the eyes of your neighbors.

Yes - you have nothing - yes you are far from your real home, yes you are uneducated and probably not healthy, but please work really, really hard to save for for your 1 way airline ticket home. Sic

I don't care which religion or sect

of kind of under-civilized extremist

And as for Pope Bennedict....
isn't he part of the old order of the inquisition?

C-mon George....please help me out on this.

If "The State" can come down upon Mormons for engaging in the practice of polygamy maintaining that it is a detriment to woman and children, it seems to me that "The State" can come down upon the Mussulmen for bloody barbarity on the public thoroughfare. And while we're at it, "The State" should come down upon Mussulwomen who parade on the public thoroughfare with faces covered wearing burkhas. (You try walking around disguised. Hey, lets all put paper bags over our heads and ask the beat cop what time it is.)

Re Benedict XVI aka Cardinal Ratzinger. Ratzinger visited NYC when Cardinal O'Connor was in office. O'Connor introduced Ratzinger to the press humorously as "the Grand Inquisitor". Indeed, Ratzinger then was the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the office that defends traditional Catholic doctrine and beliefs. This Congregation was once known officially as the Holy Office of the Inquisition. Fortunately, they no longer blatantly burn witches at the stake and do "apologise" for condemning Galileo - although Benedict XVI could not speak at the University of Sapienza, Italy, because he maintained that the then condemnation was done according to "Reason". (I'm not making this up.)

In any event, the visit by the Pope in April will be a hoot. Guaranteed, he'll be making newsworthy comments. Stock up with beer and pretzels and let the games commence.

BTW, Benedict XVI has taken on the Mussulmen in his famous lecture at the University of Regensberg, Germany, in the fall of last year, when he quoted one of the last Byzantine emperors as saying: "Show me what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find only things evil and inhuman such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

In the same lecture, he mentioned that Islam was composed of a "startling brusqueness, a brusqueness which leaves us astounded." Witness Crapper's 2 posted photos.

The Pope quoted a Mussulman commentator: "God is not bound even by his own word, and that nothing would oblige him to reveal the truth to us. Were it God's will, we would even have to practice idolatry." [I really have to get outta here.]

So there you have it. The Pope, of all people, intellectually "took on Islam"!

As the old saw goes: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

And thank you Teddy Kennedy for the 1965 Immigration Act which led to this invasion by the Turd World.

those "burkhas" can be used as weapons too.

One time I was coming out of the Central Library in Jamaica and spotted an attractive middle-eastern woman walking towards me. Catching me looking at her she quickly covered up her face with her burkha.

I never felt so snubbed. :(

These pracitice in public should be outlawed for their own protection. If they wish to beat each other to a bloody pulp, then they need to be taken away in a strait-jacket. Why must we be responsible for these looneys by letting them in the door in the first place? I'll bet 3/4 of those folks in attendance jacking each other to sounds of groans of pain, are illegal. Maybe recuit these folks to police Iraq on our behalf - the burka clad would go wild for this sort of stuff and these Mohammeds would take notice and do a different dance instead - all would be peaceful.
