Borough Hall parking garage will soon be demolished

From the Forum:

The Queens Borough Hall Municipal Garage remains on track for expedited demolition this spring, according to Borough President Melinda Katz.

In a recent meeting with Katz, representatives from Queens District Attorney Richard Brown’s office, and other agencies that would be affected by the work, city Department of Transportation officials also indicated that construction of a new 300-spot parking lot is still on schedule for the end of 2016.

Additionally, Katz noted that DOT has implemented mitigation efforts during the demolition and construction periods, including additional Police Department traffic agents at Queens Boulevard and 83rd Avenue; 38 new temporary angled parking spaces on 134th Street; and extended hours on meters at 25 spots along Queens Boulevard at 83rd Avenue.

Why not demolish that crooked house of con artists.......borough hall itself....and send the rats (two legged variety) scurrying?

So will there be an investigation into why DOB and DOT and FDNY allowed this dangerous condition to get to this point?

Concept for a new museum to be included next to the new garage that will replace the old one.
(No doubt, somebody politically connected has got the building contract for the replacement.)

I think Queens should build "The Museum of Political Corruption" dedicated to its king, Donald Manes and his successors.

"I think Queens should build "The Museum of Political Corruption" dedicated to its king, Donald Manes and his successors." ... There will be no museum, we stopped teaching history and civics in the schools.

I beg to differ.

We have got the Queens Museum. LOL! It is third rate , but isn't that what Queens is ? In the eyes of our "political leaders" Queens is a deveoper's paradise. Museums and culture come last.

Shall I name all of the great institutions that Brooklyn has compared to its bereft sister borough? Then my post would be far too long for anybody's attention span.

Here we go again, that magic word "mitigation". As if a word of comfort can manage the. Increased traffic tangle which will occur during reconstruction. From the queen of lip service comes the word "mitigation" in lieu of a real solution.

Put a 70-story homeless shelter on the site.
