New life for the Eagle Theater

From DNA Info:

It’s showtime again at the former Eagle Theater.

The historic Art Deco film palace, a former Bollywood movie theater shuttered for almost three years, is getting a new lease on life starting Friday night as a multi-cultural food court and supermarket.

The dilapidated space at 73-07 37th Rd., which most recently showed Bollywood movies and once served as a porno palace, will be home to the new Jackson Heights Food Court, which will cater to shoppers looking to pick up South Asian groceries or snack on some samosas, momos or even halal tacos, management said.

Even if I wanted any of that crap, I could get it at any one of the numerous carts blocking every sidewalk in the neighborhood. Jackson Heights and Queens is shot!

"The historic Art Deco film palace, a former Bollywood movie theater shuttered for almost three years, is getting a new lease on life"......you call that a new lease on life, the same kind of shit that you can see on every corner of Jackson Heights. This is the best they could come up with (well it could have been a 33 room hotel. Another example of the destruction of Queens and New York as a whole. Yes this belongs on Queens Crap because that is exactly what it is, more crap that caters to the bottom of the rung in Queens. You all do know that this kind of shit does exist in your own third world countries, no need to come here to the USA and turn US into the image of your shithole. Ever hear of cultural assimilation, that is what my people did when they came here many years ago, they did not turn their new neighborhood into the piss poor area they left which had outdoor shithouses. If they did each house in the neighborhood would have had backyard outhouses and goats running all over the place. They kept their traditions but embraced their new country and had pride in America and did not treat it like a flop house or garbage dump. Some of you could learn from the old world immigrants.

no they are vital and useful as they are not only solidly democratic and provide swell photo ops for the pols, but they let the pols pretty much do anything they want and don't waste their time with pesky distractions like good government and quality of life issues.

you cant get a better group of people in your district than the natives of jackson heigts, corona, and elmhurst.

Very sad and infuriating on a lot of levels.

What Jackson Heights needs is upscale clothing store for dogs. You know, like those cooler areas...

A new lease on life? This is like digging up my grandmother's bones, hanging them up on a wall for a family get together, and happily announcing to my family that "Grandma" was able to make it for dinner.

Until they get some money, decide to bite the hand that feeds them, turn against the party, and vote for "one of their own".

this theater was named the "EARLE" prior to 1965. but then the anti-family porno creeps converted it.

forced integration/ busing of local public school children began the white flight to the east end of Queens/Nassau Counties.

thanks to the "progressives " who hi-jacked the once proud democrat party.

Anon No. 8:

Does repeating the same cliches over and over again mean that you need to do that to convince everyone, or that you aren't smart enough to say something else?

New life?

The fabulous art deco interior
has been gutted.

All that remains is the steelwork skeleton of the marquee...clad in crap...and the cast stone facade.

I'd rather see Patel's supermarket using it.

A myriad of cheap food stands hardly represent new life for the Eagle/Earle Theater.

Face it folks...you're living in a 4th rate borough.

That's why I've since moved
to Brooklyn.

I can't wait until the historic Loew's Kings wonder theater is restored to new life.

That's a really superb movie palace.

The rest of NYC seems to get more out of government, while
Queens continues to get only table scraps unfit for dogs.
