Ignorance of the law is no excuse !
Other people's quality of life is effected by people not following simple laws.I don't want to see your garbage on the sidewalk all day. Pay the ticket and shut up already.

Just a stupid law - they should go after those who put out their garbage bags in little plastic bags that break open a spew their contents with the wind all over my property. How about those construction companies that put out commercial demolition material at the curb! Stop nickel and diming us for putting the garbage out 30 min early!

QUOTAS - time to end the year on a positive note - these inspectors need their incentive pay.

You'll notice that they only ticket middle class neighborhoods. You'd never see them ticketing people in the dangerous neighborhoods or the ritzy ones. That's because Bloomberg wants to get rid of the middle class. Only the rich and the poor in his city.

"Just a stupid law - they should go after those who put out their garbage bags in little plastic bags that break open a spew their contents with the wind all over my property." Better yet, they should go after the can collectors who split the bags open to take what they want and leave the rest all over the sidewalk!

Can't say i am upset. I always wait until at LEAST sundown. Who the hell wants to look at piles of garage during the day? Put your can out at nightfall, bring it back in in the early AM.

Its not that hard.

I agree, however, in Sanctuary City, you aren't allowed to arrest the illegal immigrants.

I mean, they came all the way from China and South America just to pick at our cans! They have a right to our garbage without interference!!!

White people get tickets for jay walking. Fence hoppers get a verbal warning for rape.

I'm not surprised - there are times when Sanitation hadn't taken away the garbage on the actual collection day, or when they haven't plowed the streets, and Bloomberg tries to act "cute" about the problem with his smug, shrimpy self.

Not everyone works 9-5 and has the luxury of being home or awake at those hours.

Pick up a piece of furniture from the garbage and you get arrested for stealing city recyclable material (TRUE)!!!

Rip open open garbage bags for cans and get honored by the city for being a wonderful illegal for doing valuable work????? In fact invite more illegals to jump fences or ships!! Olah!

I know Raymond personally, and he is a very hardworking family man and a great person. Most reading here could only wish they would have neighbors like him.

They say the law is to prevent obstruction of the sidewalk. The sanitation guys throw my garbage can, after emptying it, in the middle of the sidewalk, not at the edge where I've left it. They're also always late in picking up the recycleables. One time there was a large paper box rolling around the middle of the street. Someone decided to move it off the street and drag it to the sidewalk (so it wouldn't obstruct traffic) in front of my house. Within minutes, I received a ticket for putting out garbage on the wrong day.

Lets get some Politician or News Media to find out the exact number and area of Sanitation Tickets given out Citywide. I'll bet you find a big difference between certain neighborhoods than others. But isn't that illegal to single out niegborhoods.

I drive through all areas of NYC all hours, days or nights. I always manage to see the SANITATION ticket cars in certain areas but almost never see them in others, makes you wonder.
