New diner opens in Jackson Heights

From the Times Ledger:

State Assemblyman Michael DenDekker (D-Jackson Heights) and City Councilman Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights) joined the owners of the Jax Inn Diner for its ribbon-cutting last week.

The officials said the new Northern Boulevard eatery is filling a hole left by the Mark Twain Diner, a longtime Queens meeting place formerly situated on the spot.

“It shows a faith in the community,” Dromm said. “It shows faith in the economy.”

Brothers Anastasios and Peter Giannopoulos opened the Jax Inn Diner, at 72-12 Northern Blvd. in Jackson Heights, Nov. 7 and held their grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 22.

Peter Giannopoulos said they decided to open a new diner at the spot since the neighborhood was in a “dire need” of one.

i had the privilege of knowing "the Greek Coffee King", Tony Vassilaros.(excuse the spelling).he is now deceased.almost every Greek owned diner ,that existed years ago ,was visited and sold coffee, by Tony.He was a great guy.

i also was a corporate sales representative and appreciated his selling skills.

i hope the new diner will be serving his coffee.

KALA CHRISTUGNIA,from a non-greek.

Been there twice with the missus. Clean, pleasant atmosphere, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the two meals I had there were well above normal diner standards.

Had lunch there today. Chef special lamb shank with orzo.
Wow!!! It was delicious. Service is excellent. Owner made sure customers were satisfied.
I will definitely go back as Forest Hills has no decent diners.
Two thumbs up for Jax Inn Diner.

It will be a halal shop, a mosque, a nail salon tug job joint, or a 24 hour laundromat in no time
