Parks seeks vendor for 2 carousels

From the Daily News:

The city is trying once again to lure an operator to take over two historic wood carousels located in Queens parks.

And this time the stakes are higher than ever.

If no concessionaire is found to run both the Forest Park and Flushing Meadows Corona Park carousels, the amusements could be shuttered for the spring and summer season.

But finding someone to run the merry-go-rounds — described as priceless jewels by experts — has not exactly been a walk in the park.

The Forest Park Carousel has sat dormant since the end of 2008. Parks Department officials said they have been unable to find anyone with a viable plan to operate the concession. The Flushing Meadows Corona Park Carousel has remained open, benefiting from its location near the Queens Zoo in the busy park. The city’s contract with its operator, New York One LLC, ends early next year.

Officials are hoping to find a vendor for the Forest Park Carousel by linking it with the more lucrative site in Flushing Meadows.

Who rides a merry-go-round these days of the iPhone? I'm sure there's an app for a virtual carousel.

Ask Donald Trump to take them over.

Ditto, George.

Install one in Queens Boro Hall.

It's already a merry-go-round...
where developers and pols climb on for a mutually lucrative ride...
at the expense of Queens' residents.

Maybe the gangs of Forest Park can blaze away at each other from Muller's carousel steeds.

"Bang, bang, bang....gotcha"!

Oops, there goes the band box.

Ya betta watch out.

All of these negative comments will enrage the Rego Forest preservation group.

We've already got an iPhone app for our boro prez.

Ya mean ya didn't all know that Helen Marshall's really a 2D beep?

Maybe the app is smarter than the real thing.

And you can always reprogram an app not to kiss a developer's butt.

The residents living around Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and Forest Park are the reasons why no company wants to run these two carousels.

Money can be made with less of a headache.

George...there probably is an iPhone app for the virtua carousel ride. No room for NYC landmarks from the old days. The times have changed...for the worse.

I need a virtual job app to pay my virtual rent and feed my virtual wife and kids.

Isn't the world of illusion great?

Did Steve Jobs change my life for the better?

Anyway he logged out leaving me with the monthly payments on my i-Phone, i-Pad and i-Mac.

I gotta jump off this merry-go-round and try landing on my feet.

I need an i-Massagee, PDQ and am headed for Main Street, Flushing to snap me out of my tech habit.

I think scoring heroin is a lot cheaper than visiting the Apple Cathedral Store Cube on 5th Avenue.

Ooooh, that prostate massage feels good, Mr. Nussbaum.
