Robbery at Atlas Park

From the Daily News:

A brazen Memorial Day stickup at the tenant-challenged Atlas Park mall in Glendale is once again raising questions about how its owner plans to lure businesses there.

Macerich, the nationwide firm that owns the Cooper Ave. shopping complex, is still staying mum on its immediate plans to turn the struggling mall around.

But it promises big things are on the horizon.

On May 28, a man and woman stopped by a parking kiosk, claiming to need information, police said. The two attendants opened the booth door just as the man and woman and a third suspect forced them inside. The perps demanded money at gunpoint, tied up the staffers and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash, according to police.

No arrests have been made in connection with the crime, which occurred just before noon. Mall officials stressed that it was an isolated incident, though they declined to offer further comment on the crime or its plans to make the mall less empty.

For a second I thought was about the landlord (Macerich nationwide) rent prices.
Atlas park is empty because nobody can make any money.
$75.00 to $500 a square foot retail space is low to mid end Manhattan prices.
People from Ridgewood, Glendale Middle Village can hardly pay their taxes.
What makes this landlord think they are gonna buy Cartier watches or $10 sets of kids sox.
The 99 cent, junk and retail stores on Myrtle ave (all serviced by FAST EASY public transportation) blow them completely away.

I Can't think of a dumber idea than robbing a place that has no business. The individuals who did this should be tossed in the can just for being stupid! And while I'm at it, Macerich is being silent about their plans for Atlas because they have none. Atlas is going to fold. The dream of the idiot son of a real estate development dynasty, it was doomed from it's inception.

I think that Atlas Shrugged and dropped the park into the crapper.

Central Queens is no place for high-end retail.
Try Nassau County

My band played the Mayfest in Columbia SC some years ago.
All the government building in the center of town had bullet holes and confederate flags were banned, dirty looking guys with beirds were picking fights with us because the woman liked us (we had teeth and brains).

Joe would you base your opinion of Queens on a visit to south Jamaica?

Ive been to south Jamaica we had a rehearsal in the old "Music Building" on Archer. Played at "Beggars Opera" back in the good old days
As for your question:
I been to every city in the country and YES I would rather live in South Jamaica today then be "jailed" in Columbia S Carolina or any Carolina s, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana.

Atlanta may be the only exception, I actually like that city. It much like New York City was in the 60s and 70's. Good food and ex New Yorkers everywhere with plenty of fun things to do walking distance.

Atlas Mall is a big question mark! What give where is this landlord taking it? My guess it will be redone and house Walmart and I would welcome it. #2 the mall could become a site for select outlets and do very well.

Another suggestion is to add bowling, post office, and supper market to the shopping mix with free parking. NYSC, the movies and Chillis are great but the only stores there that I go to!

A Walmart there would be awesome. Good thinking. I would be there all the time,
