Prostitution sting very successful

From the NY Post:

Police arrested nearly 200 people in a 4-day citywide prostitution sting.

The weekend long raid, that started on Thursday and ended Sunday, had cops hitting 27 precincts which resulted in the arrest of 10 prostitutes, 186 johns.

Cops also seized 56 vehicles.

Undercover cops pose as hookers and collar those johns looking for a prostitute, sources said.

The sting was part of an initiative run by the NYPD’s civil enforcement unit, dubbed “Operation Losing Proposition” which deters street prostitution by seizing the cars of prostitute’s customers.

The Brownsville section of Brooklyn saw the most arrests with 3 prostitutes and 16 johns, followed by Jackson Heights Queens where police nabbed another 14 johns.

All 186 were charged with patronizing a prostitute, police said.

Police could nab illegals instead and get crime lowered, this would be more effective.

In fact legalizing prostitution would be the best solution, the state makes money, the women/men would be safer and off the streets making more money and the customers legal.

"Cops also seized 56 vehicles."

That is the real prize for them. In addition to all the drugs and possibly guns they may have found that went unreported.

Prison Industrial Complex, look into it. Its all a big money game for them. The law and the criminal justice system has LITTLE OR NOTHING to do with actual justice anymore.

The law enforcement - like so much of this country today is bullshit in focus and agenda.

Prostitution, like drugs, should be regulated - and crime will fall. Just like increasing legalized gambling made a cut big time in the rackets.

Illegal conversions, immigrants, and development are ... well ... illegal and should be the focus of the law.

The lives of everyone, homeowners, legal workers, and the community would benefit.

yes it's wonderful to live in a community with a sex trade. Why wouldn't everyone want prostitutes roaming the streets?

Now there's less competition with the Queens Tribune whore ads!!!

I am reading about the prositutes & Johns..how about getting the pimps!?

Must've been embarassing for those johns to explain to their wives why they came home without the car.

"Why wouldn't everyone want prostitutes roaming the streets?"

THEY WOULDN'T BE ON THE STREETS IF IT WERE LEGAL.

So not of those prostitutes will go into a fancy store and say "Big mistake. Huge!"?

This is a waste of our tax dollars and police efforts.

I agree that the streets in every neighorhood should be sweeped of this stuff.

Bit this sweep is a token effort not a perm thing at all. Legalize this activity and structure the activity so that like other sex trade businesses in the city it will be far from residential neighborhoods.Lots of these customers are single and provide for services for woman "Johnettes" as well. The married folks need outlets and at the end of the day maybe there is less sexual crimes committed as a result?

It's a big joke that the NYPD goes after this stuff. In fact years ago I had renters next door to me running a brothel - it was an obvious prostitution operation - the pimps were none other than local 110 precinct officers who spread free services to their fellow officers so that none responded or saw anything in the frequent complaints to 911. The down fall was a drunk Precient Sgt who fell down drunk and unconscious on the property - he had a heart attack in uniform on duty with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hands! Game up the place was shutdown immediately thereafter. This was back in the 80s couple blocks down from Silver Barn farms.

Yet,the strip clubs in Long Island City which has prostitution going on in private rooms never get bothered.I wonder why.

It's amazing how many people ignore the fact that many of these prostitutes are trafficked, and are therefore sex slaves. I don't know if their "owners" are going run right out and "register" them with the government.

If only prostitution were legal, there would be so many women signing up for this wonderful profession? This isn't Gunsmoke, you know.

Prostition will always be here there everywere. Guys pah for sex 2 to 3 times a day and some being cops, lawyers, doctors ect. Most of the women now a days are of age and working alone. Some with familys and homes to go to. Why have sex with a different guy everyday and get nothing? Men will be men they think of it 30 times a day. This should just be legal bcuz at the end of the day the cops cant catch them all!!
