You notice Juan has NO testimonials from people he's actually helped? That's because there are none. All he does is talk about how his parents are immigrants and he has government experience but doing what exactly? Certainly nothing that has resonated in Maspeth and thereabouts. He's like persona non grata. Hell most people don't even realize that Holden has an opponent. And seriously, the combo of white male libs like JVB, Brad Pander and Gianaris is only going to hurt, not help you, dude.

Derek's wife works at a large real estate company that does development and property management. She donated to Juan's campaign, it's in his campaign disclosures. Juan is supported by that Architects PAC and that "Open New York" YIMBY group.
Juan went to St Adalbert, Molloy, and Fordham. But never seen him involved in any church charity work. Never heard of any volunteer work he's done in the community. The people voting for him hate Holden, they can't explain how Juan is remotely qualified.

The only reason that AOC and her ilk (like this guy) got in was that people were tired of machine hacks who only wanted to pander to the needy Democrat core and developers.
This guy is running against Holden, who is one of the very few in NYC government that is not a BSer or pawn of special interests, but someone who has values and fights for his community.
There are not many that can say this in NYC.

Has he done that lately? Hmmm...it seems to me you're referring to this article which was written years before Holden ran for office. Why do the Ardila supporters keep going after Holden's family??? Seriously starting to cross the line, as if calling someone gay as a slur at the age of 20 isn't bad enough. We made fun of his campaign manager for appearing in his very public ad pretending to be an everyman. You think that's stalking? See the Phil Campbell piece which went after a bunch of op ed writers because the magazine they wrote for was edited by Ardila's opponent at the time. That post was the epitome of "stalking people you don’t agree/like with. (what?)" But the fact that no Ardila supporters nor the candidate himself find it problematic that an avid supporter chose to focus on the race of Holden's wife is pretty telling. Maybe look in the mirror before calling other people racist. How do we have an epidemic of Asian hate which progressives have denounced and no one has denounced this blatant example of anti-Asian racism?
The most problematic thing here is that Derek Evers is married to an Asian woman and his child is half Asian yet he doesn't see a problem with the Campbell post.

The DSA/WFP/RTU folks are always commenting about Holden's staffers, so why are Juan's off limits? I don't agree with the personal political views of some Holden staffers, but the office does a decent job chasing down problems and trying to get the City to respond.
Derek Evers is a public figure. He's voluntarily thrust himself into the forefront of public controversies and discourse.
1. He ran and won a local election for District Leader in AD37.
2. He was appointed to a community board.
3. He's Juan's campaign manager and canvasses for Juan.
4. He's appeared in Juan's campaign video.
5. He actively and publicly comments on issues on Twitter and elsewhere.
There's nothing stalker about subjecting Derek to scrutiny. Particularly since his wife works for a real estate company. Derek has said in the past that he's the stay at home parent, so their family income is derived from real estate. That's just a relevant fact when housing affordability, development, over-development, gentrification are such big issues in City politics.
