AirBnB helps gentrifiers more

From the Daily News:

It’s mostly white residents cashing in as Airbnb hosts in the city’s predominantly black neighborhoods, according to a new report by a watchdog website.

Using host photographs, Inside Airbnb determined that across 72 mostly African-American neighborhoods, the Airbnb host population is 74% white — compared to just a 13.9% overall white population in those neighborhoods.

They estimate that white Airbnb hosts in black neighborhoods earned $159.7 million, compared to $48.3 million for black hosts.

“It’s clear that it’s a racial gentrification tool,” said Inside Airbnb founder Murray Cox. “They’ve been using people of color and black faces in their marketing and lobbying campaign, but they’re not fundamentally the people who are using it.”It’s mostly white residents cashing in as Airbnb hosts in the city’s predominantly black neighborhoods, according to a new report by a watchdog website.

They should correct to scumbag white residents. This is the basis behind the "revitalization" and "vibrancy" in isolated parts of Bed-Stuy and most certainly partly responsible for the rise in homelessness of working families disenfranchised from their apts. in Brooklyn.

Airbnb is a criminal enterprise. There is sick and twisted irony in the fact that all of the people they displaced are now in hotels in Queens that their guests should have been using in the first place.

I am not a fan of AirBnB for many reasons, mainly the risk to neighbors of persons unknown staying in your apartment, but I think this article goes too far.

Am I to believe that white people who own property in black neighborhoods are renting them out on AirBnB as a ploy to gentrify that neighborhood?

How many white people own property in black neighborhoods? Is it less than black people? If you rent an apartment and find it in the ghetto do you not post on AirBnB to warn other renters?

I think this is an AirBnB smear. There are enough reasons to be against them without making up this racist nonsense.

One additional question: if you live in the ghetto and are law abiding and work for a living do you mind tourists staying there? Would you prefer these places stay empty? Do you prefer squatters?

Just remember: the government would love AirBnB if they paid taxes!

Hats off to JQ LLC who in four brief sentences packed more insight than a week of NYT.

You know what, yes. Be it unconsciously racist or complicit with the site.

As for white people owners, plenty, but a lot of them are middle eastern, indian or asian. And they all used Airbnb, who collectively went out of their way to buy influence by contributing to Borough President Eric Adams own little slush fund 501 c 4. And look who is representing Airbnb, none other than the scumbag who has hit the lottery profiting off of misery and gentrification, wormtongued maggot James Capalino.
