So we did all that for nothing?

From the Queens Chronicle:

The launch of Select Bus Service along several corridors in New York City has done little to improve riders’ commutes, a new analysis by the city comptroller claims.

The findings, released last Friday, state the average speed of SBS buses is 8.9 miles per hour, 20 percent better than the average rate for local buses, 7.4 mph.

The fastest Queens SBS route is the Q70, which connects riders from Jackson Heights to LaGuardia Airport, at 11.3 mph.

And the service is not doing much to get people where they need to go in a timely manner either. The average on-time performance for all SBS lines is 62 percent, equal to that of local routes. The Q44 SBS, which runs through Flushing and Jamaica, is on time 54 percent of the time, the Q70 scored a 62 percent and the M60 — which goes from LaGuardia Airport to Morningside Heights in Manhattan — got a 37 percent on-time rate.

The report did not state the speed or on-time performance of the Q52/53 SBS routes on Woodhaven and Cross Bay boulevards, which launched last November.

Those 20-something so called "urban planners" come from outside of NY and have no clue what it means to improve transportation in a major city with 10 million inhabitants. They like to draw with markers and crayons and that's it.

Take the bus lane out and give the lane back to the cars. Theres no point in having a full lane dedicated to a bus so that 4 buses an hour can use it while the main lanes are congested.

Fucking up Woodhaven Blvd and Cross Bay Blvd. for this service has not been the salve for bus commuters. Another damn waste and disgrace by the worst fucking transit system in the universe.

As with the subway, the bus service will never be fixed. Too many incompetents running the show. I agree with first anon. These dopes in their 20's and even early 30's have no idea to improve transportation egress because they mostly commute by bike or skateboard.

I'm sure the person responsible for doing a "study" concluding that it was a "good idea" got paid a mountain of $$$$$$$$$$ !
That's the way it works in NYC. The guy who does "the study" is the only one who comes out ahead. BTW.....that's the way politicians reward their cronies. "Here's 80 Gs. Do a study!

And the fact that all these extra green, uber & Lyft cabs are over running everything is a big factor as well. We used to just have yellow cabs in manhattan and gypsy cabs in the outer boros...

How about stop giving away TLC plates to everyone with a black car. There are an extra 60,000 TLC cars on the road.

I knew all this garbage wasn't going to work. Do you know how many people I see who stand and park in the bus lanes? Too many to count and there is no enforcement for it during high peak hours. I knew these sbs buses were a joke when they first started them. Just like these stupid bike lanes are a waste of space too. They just cause more problems and more headaches and congestion for city traffic.

True intention of the SBS lanes is to punish and torture motorists into giving up their evil cars, any lowering of bus travel times is just a side benefit. Get it into your thick heads, they want our cars!

Yep....urban planners....nerds who think they know it all. What would they do if they had to hold a real job?

Hahaha. Millions of dollars wasted. How come they did not mention all the traffic backup this has caused? The MTA is full of crap.

All these dedicated bus and bike lanes in suburban-like parts of Queens, such as Woodhaven, Forest Hills, Douglaston, etc., are done to acquiesce the powerful and wealthy car-hating lobby, consisting mainly of people who live in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn and are CLUELESS and INDIFFERENT to the transportation reality of millions of New Yorkets living in the outer Boroughs.

Too many people living here. It will only get worse.

They lied about the whole fucking plan from start to finish. Fire every one of the incompetent assholes

The sheep vote Democratic, they adore socialism, and call each other Comrade. This is how socialism, which DeBlasio espouses, begins the slow decay of society. Cronyism corruption, and bullshit. Can you imagine if that thing he calls a wife runs for mayor?

To last Anonymous who had me over the sides with: 'Can you imagine if that thing he calls a wife runs for mayor?' It was the most priceless 'truth' that I have heard in a decade.

My very wise aunt has always referred to her as a 'cockroach,' and what better descriptive to burnish into everyone's imagery, given that she's married to a 'Tall & Stupid' 'Preying Mantis' (as in 'prey)?

Alas, I never thought that I would see a day in this ravaged 21st century, where corruption, graft and greed was so openly practiced, and without consequence (for which everyone else in the proletariat, plebeian, rank-and-file, continues to pay the ultimate, soul-crushing price).

It's the end of human decency——and humanism——as we know it, and THIS current scourge, both of whom have infected City Hall (with the greatest corruption, graft, greed and disgrace), are the reasons for why our once great, proud, independent and self-reliant metropolis is nothing more than a 'Fourth World' of political arrogance and narcissism that now DEVALUES honesty itself!

And, the public be damned (again and STILL)!

❝This planet is obviously being used as an insane asylum by other planets.❞ —George Bernard Shaw

❝Civil disobedience becomes a sacred duty when the state has become lawless or corrupt.❞ —Mahatma Gandhi

❝The masses have never thirsted after truth. Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim.❞ —Gustave Le Bon (1841-1931)

❝Propaganda works best when those being manipulated are confident that they're acting of their own free will.❞ —Joseph Goebbels

❝The people will not revolt. They will not look up from their screens long enough to notice what’s happening❞ —George Orwell (Big Brother character from Orwell's book, '1984')

❝Sometimes we find ourselves walking through life blindfolded, and we try to deny that we're the ones who securely tied the knot.❞ ―Jodi Picoult, Vanishing Acts

Not a 'controlled opposition'—but an 'opposition that legitimizes the control.'

In the end, the oppressed peoples of this slave-evolving city of drones will emerge victoriously over the monstrously failed colonialism that has now backfired with a vengeance!

Why is this a surprise? SBS buses don't fly-- they get stuck in traffic like everyone else.

Speaking of drones...maybe we'll have ones at some point that'll scoop you up and drop into a pod..like a human pneumatic tube.

Would love to find the geniuses responsible for SBS along Woodhaven etc. and consign them to the misery of traveling no faster than 4mph for the rest of their lives.
