Resorts World is raking in the dough

From WPIX:

There is no Roman facade. There are no Venetian gondolas. Nor do they have a volcano out front.

Yet, inside of an architecturally simple structure in Queens is the most explosive casino in all of North America, Resorts World Casino.

“From a slot operation standpoint it’s phenomenal. This is the highest grossing slot operation in really the entire world, not just North America,” said Ed Farrell, president of the casino operation.

Six months after opening in the fall of 2011, with very little fanfare, Resorts World Casino became the most productive slot operation in the nation. Its strategy was simple. To target the culturally diverse neighborhoods around it according to Farrell. “It really caters a lot to the locals. Most of our business is from Queens and Long Island, and Brooklyn and close to here, but being so close to JFK we also do get a little bit of business from those people that are coming in from out of town.”

Why bleed the out of towners when you can bleed the locals right here?

A majority of gamblers are Asian. Buses from all of the tri-state Chinatowns are packed. They used to go to AC.

Asians.

Next question.

The one time I went there I saw a lot of African Americans as well. What I didn't see were white people. They must still go to Foxwoods.

All that profit and no buffett. Just shows you in NYC a good (comped) buffett cannot survive

NY State has gotten 1.4 Billion. That's 1.4 B not raised from me or you if we don't gamble.

Recycling welfare dollars.

Resorts World should be sending thank you cards to NYC taxpayers.

Asians are notorious gamblers. No wonder Flushing is such a cesspool.

Ah joy, racism is alive and well :-/

Yep.....Asians that's for sure!

I think it has less to do with any one race and more to do with the fact that on a whole, absolutely no one looking to gamble wants to waste a fuck-ton of time going all the way to AC or foxwoods. The days of those stand-alone, destination casinos is over.

Where is all the $$$$ the state gets??????

Genting Americas, the Malaysian company that owns Resorts World Casino at Aqueduct, is proposing to build a casino right in the middle of Sterling Forest near Tuxedo, NY.

Ask Cuomo where the money the state gets is. They get over three quarters of every dollar.

not only is resortsworld a glorified dump, its also a glorified video game arcade.I don't see the difference between those baccarat, card game and slot machines than pac-man,asteroids or donkey kong.

Check out the train stops at aqueduct with all the customers waiting.it's a truly depressing sight.

That swoosh sound you heard was the last of the few middle class Ozone Parkers leaving NYC.

Truth. NJ and Upstate need to take notice. Why would anyone sit on any highway in traffic for any amount of time if all they want to do is play the slots, and Aqueduct is just a subway ride away? Millions are about to be spent on casinos in sullivan and orange county and they will be nearly empty.

This place has turned into a real dump..The machines are tight and the staff has an attitude. The food is horrible and the bathrooms are not kept clean.. I think I will stick with Empire Casino where you are treated decent.
