Residents upset with Astoria S&M club

From the NY Post:

An S&M dungeon that shares a building with a dance academy for young girls in Queens has some parents begging the kinky group to find a new place to get their freak on.

Isabella, a parent who asked that her last name not be used, came across Iron Bell when she started looking for a dance school for her 10-year-old daughter.

A friend recommended Astoria Fine Arts, which, coincidentally, was not far from Isabella’s home. But when she looked up other tenants in the building, the results shocked her.

Since 1998, a city ordinance has barred X-rated businesses from being within 500 feet of schools and residential areas.

So Isabella on Thursday submitted a formal complaint with the city, asking officials to investigate the Iron Bell’s operations, records show.

A spokeswoman for the Buildings Department confirmed the building on 23rd Avenue sits in a residential zone and is registered as a facility for offices and storage. The agency will investigate the X-rated claims.

Well, I'm not going to comment on the proclivities of the Astoria crowd. But just check out this piece of crap across the street!

It took a lot of effort to create something this fugly.

UPDATE: The dungeon was evicted.

The so-called crap across the street replaced the former Bruno catering hall which by the time it had closed was being used for rowdy Latin and other parties.

Be glad that it is gone.

The S&M building also houses recording/rehearsal studios.

I think it's quite charming. All of America should look like this.

What the hell is it? A therapy place, and an apartment? Makes no sense.

Sad, that used to be the Astoria Silk Factory.

Wonder Pistilli did not get his hands on it to ruin it as he did the LI Savings Bank on 30th, Eagle Electric at Astoria Park, and Steinway Factory on Ditmars.

It's Balcony-mania! With extra-crappy fence design and through-the-wall 5 feet off the floor Fedders-frames.

With all the mothers complaining..... how many of them are secretly reading 5o Shades of Grey??? Just hypocritical.

I love how the media keeps saying it was an S&M sex club. It was never advertised as a sex club. It was more an educational facility!!! I agree with the above poster - I do wonder how many of those dance moms have read 50 Shades! Get over yourselves ladies!

The Fina Arts Dance STUDIO is NOT a school!!!!!! It is a STUDIO!!!!! There is no accreditation issued by the state, city or ANY OTHER AGENCY!!!! And I'm sure their "teachers" (male's mostly) got their jobs under a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" clause.
And being the location of the actual space..... it IS 500 feet from residents!!
Maybe city zoning should check the legality of the Studio's right to be in the building, as well as any other business located in it!!
But most of all, the self entitlement of the "mother's" is pathetic!!!! Were any children made aware of the location and purpose PRIOR to "Mommy" pointing fingers???? I don't think so!!!!

Just for the record folks, look what Crappy was able to do - "Dark Knight" Vallone riding on his motor bike - still back in his first childhood - was clueless and Mr Anit-Crime phoney Melloni had no idea....
