Termites fell utility poles in Springfield Gardens!
From CBS 2:
There was shock on 157th Street as an entire row of utility poles dropped without warning around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Springfield Gardens.
Five poles in total came down with one of them falling on a UPS truck and two others were left bent and leaning.
About 60 Homes on the block and businesses in a nearby industrial park were left in the dark. Workers were also sent home.

and all on the news today they kept saying Sunnyside, Queens -- doesn't anybody know anything lol
Even in the middle of nowhere in Eastern Europe, all the utility poles are concrete.
Why not soak the bottoms of the poles in polyurethane?
Because, George, that will waterlog the bottoms.
It's Queens, Angela. They can barely find the Tennis Center and the airports.
Just how does the water penetrate the polyurethane?
