Ozone Park protests homeless shelter for mentally ill men

This shelter, which already looks hideous and incongruous on the avenue consisting of homes and small businesses, is a massive mistake. And it's total verification of de Faustio's wretched policies and incompetence and also his fascistic decisions showing zero regard for his constituents.

What's needed is a goddamn hospital if they are mentally ill , I suggest renovating and reopening the Neponsit Hospital. Because these men are not going to get hired anytime soon and will not be looking for work because they are certain not to own cellphones or have access to computers, which is the only way to find out if there's work available.

To the people rightly yelling to put an ugly shoddily built shelter in Park Slope, you all should also cite and suggest to our corrupt mayor and the idiots working at DHS (who like the mayor, are not even from the five boroughs) to place one in Windsor Terrace where that weasel who supervises this homeless crisis, Steve Banks, owns and lives in a gorgeous brownstone building.

Joe Torre's sister is still at Nativity BVM?

A shelter is supposed to be a temporary placement until a "real" home is available. Seems like this is housing, and as such is subject to Olmstead ruling on concentrating people with disabilities in one place (think about Willowbrook State School, eg). It would also be subject to Padavan reviews . . .

There is no zero zip nil good outcome when LARGE concentrations of vulnerable people are dumped (yes, dumped!)in a community. The community gets screwed, and the people who need help are screwed.
