17 years later and we are still in Afghanistan. Shameful.

Sometime next year the press will interview some 18 year old GI and ask him what it's like to serve in a war he wasn't even alive yet when it started. Woo Hoo!

We must pray and never forget those who died on that terrible day. I remember walking to the bus (Q 39) in the heat on September 11th. The first plane hit while I was in class. The teachers told us it was a mistake but when the 2nd plane hit, no one was allowed near the windows. No teacher was acknowledge what was happening but my outspoken Science teacher told us, “we’re probable going to war.” Most of the kids left school by then and many parents came to pull their kids out.

On the bus ride back home, dead silence by all the young people and adults. No one knew what would happen to our nation. The phone lines were out, all we heard were sirens on the BQE into Manhattan. An FDNY firefighter showed up at our door to ask if everyone was okay. My older brother, a freshman in college, told us about all the people crying while walking over the Queensboro Bridge. More dead silence on the bus ride back to school the next day.

The next generation must know about this day but I fear it might be considered some sort of “Islamiphobia” in the future. What has this country learned? The terrorists came over with valid visas to attend flight school. We have an estimated 700,000 visa overstays, over 11 million illegal immigrants and no end in sight. Our politicians are unfortunately more interest in cheap labor than the safety of the American people.

God bless the civilians, FDNY, NYPD, EMS who died on September 11th. God bless the armed forces who have fought and died in Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the Middle East.

We have been there a lot longer than that!

John Rambo was in Afghanistan since 1988 during First Blood Part III

Yeah, God bless them. I suppose not letting them die was too difficult for god.

And yet, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully directed and orchestrated an attack in the United States since 9/11. Whether Islamic extremists or mass shootings, they have all been home grown. But let's not get facts in the way of pushing your xenophobia.

Never forget what Christie Todd Whitman said...

You all remember, and the lie she told as a representative and official of the U.S. basically aided Bin Laden's mission of death and destruction.

"We must pray..."

Why? What's the point? The 19 hijackers probably prayed "Allahu Akbar" (God is great!") when the planes slammed into the Towers and the Pentagon. In WW1, the Germans had on their Pickelhauben (spiked helmets) "Gott Mit Uns" ("May God be with us."), I guess He/She wasn't, no?
