Former NYPD top brass in hot water

From DNA Info:

Former NYPD Chief of Department Philip Banks received between $250,000 and $500,000 from a politically connected businessman at the center of a federal probe into a pay-for-favors scandal engulfing the NYPD and City Hall, DNAinfo New York has learned.

Jona Rechnitz — owner of the Manhattan-based real estate firm JSR Capital who also has ties to Mayor Bill de Blasio — made the "investments" payout to Banks in 2014 while Banks was serving as the highest-ranking uniformed officer in charge of the NYPD’s daily operations.

The money was reported by Banks on his “exit” financial disclosure form filed with the city’s Conflict of Interest Board on Nov. 30, 2014, a month after he abruptly quit the NYPD, turning down a promotion to First Deputy Commissioner.

Banks' attorney, Benjamin Brafman, declined comment for this story.

Banks was the first choice of first lady Chirlane McCray to succeed Ray Kelly as Police Commissioner over Bill Bratton, who got the job, sources said.

"Banks was the first choice of first lady Chirlane McCray to succeed Ray Kelly as Police Commissioner over Bill Bratton"

Why should she have any say in who becomes Police Commissioner?

Is she an elected official?

Keep that pot boiling because there are more.

Does anyone really expect elected officials not to talk with their wives about politics?

This piece of shit. His nephew was caught with a gun in a NYC school. Cops were called. Nypd school safety had the kid. He shows up with his entourage and scoops up the nephew and walks out. Karma you piece of shit?

After having all his promotions handed to him on a silver platter throughout his career, looks like he was already having 'stompy feet' over this impending passing over for the promotion 'that he was due'.
Looks like he gladly accepted these payouts as a form of 'payback', and now their returning to bite him on the ass. Boo-Hoo.

Alas, the PBA and Patrick Lynch had their chance to keep the pressure on the mayor in 2014m when they demanded his impeachment, but, like everything else that doesn't follow through in the most corrupt city in the world, the momentum fizzled, without explanation, where it remains to present day.

Hence, it's time to restore and revive the movement to impeach this hyper-corrupt, dishonest, dishonorable, disloyal and derelict mayor (and his de facto Deputy Mayor wife, Chirlane---and, her two taxpayer-funded assistants that are costing the city nearly $350K a year!), and not back down THIS TIME---the city is becoming more entrenched with deeper layers of drunk-with-power corruption and arrogance by the hour!

And, once the PBA is back on a roll again, demand impeachment for the entire city council, and its crooked speaker---aka, dumb Blasio's pal, Melissa Mark-Viverito---she's so crooked that she can eat soup with a corkscrew, and open a bottle of wine with her tongue!

Hopefully, in the end we will get rid of the DeBlasios when the whole investigation has culminated.

Was it because Banks is Afro-American that Mrs. DeBlasio chose him? Hm

Surely!

At least this clown was smart enough to quit before he took a promotion. It probably delayed this discovery a few months.

Kerik wasn't that smart.

Punting here pal aren't you?
Talking is OK, wives you talk to is OK.
When *UNELECTED* wives make policy, appointment recommendations is NOT OK.
Can you see and understand the difference?

Tasting a lot of undercover racism on this thread. I hope this doesnt mess up chances for honest Black Americans to be promoted in the future. Because we all know white police and politicians can't be corrupt, they're white, right ?

Looks like that FBI 109th precinct probe is going viral.
That Chinese NYPD lieutenant from the 109th must be really spilling the beans about other crooked cops and the probe is spreading.
This is just the tip of the ice berg. The 109th has always been a big problem, locally. The NYPD needs some serious federal oversight.
A few cops will be prosecuted and a handful transefered to other precints just like the church shuffles its pedophile priests around to hide what is going on. Cops can be crooks. When they are sentenced the penalty should be tripple because they are supposed to be setting an example.

Jackie R,I would not worry about promotion for blacks in nyc,the FDNY hired by court order 300 who failed a 3 grade test

Actually it only knows one color - green.

There are videos somewhere online and that I witnessed riding there that show motorcades running reds and obstructing traffic and pedestrians with total impunity and without any nypd supervision in williamsburgh and this may be a big reason why (although it has been going on for years, Banks and these 2 developer schmucks gives it a bit of gravitas). And maybe, just maybe the reason for the bulk of the shakedowns of minorities to push them away from luxury development properties and lots.

This sellout isn't even as bad as those 2 lowlife developers he took filthy lucre from. One of them is basically a friggin' grifter, this guy claims to be hebrew but he finagled a chaplain gig at some precinct.

Well, maybe not as bad at all, since he departed so suddenly after getting knighted by Queen Charlane.

Note to Self..Watch the movie City Hall with Al Pacino. Good movie.

Oh and there's another thing. There was this hipshit dance club called Verboten in lame ass pussy williamsburgh that was recently shut down because it was run by two entitled trust fund babies. The douchehag proprieter was once quoted that she didn't want blacks making reservations or even in the presence of her dump. Supposedly, they also thought that they had solid ties to certain political higher-ups and law enforcement officials.

So They Thought.

The story is on a very popular website that covers celebrity sightings, foodie tripe, degrading viral videos and are recently doing serious news from freelancers because they can't do shit without being snarky.

Bullshit! We don't some cop union mook deciding anything here. We have a D.A. and if necessary, the Fed's to deal with this situation.

Anonymously Grey Gardens said...

Yes, Anonymous---because, the District Attorney and Fed's have such a great record of productivity when it comes to city and state corruption---my ancestors are still waiting for help and accountability!

But, regardless of what you think about Patrick Lynch and the PBA, to their credit and defense, at least they took initial action to call for New York City's most embarrassing, intensely incompetent mayor to be impeached when the matter was timely, not to mention that they advertised their campaign to oust him right away, by flying banners in the sky that called for his impeachment (sadly, with a disappointing outcome, because there was no follow up and continuity).

But, I wouldn't invest any stock or faith into ANY District Attorney or Federal public watchdog agencies---they are years behind in getting anything done---and, despite the Albany Division of the FBI's own efforts to launch an advertisement campaign on billboards statewide to call 518/431-7200 to report corruption at any level, there are hundreds (if not thousands), of rank and file citizens who are waiting months for a simple call back from this dysfunctional, understaffed agency, after reporting corruption by telephone, as they were instructed by the ad campaign and billboard directives, with no outcome in sight---only too typical of the way New York State government behaves like unresponsive tyrants, as it continues to reinforce all 'taxation without representation'---straight to the top of Albany's breeding point of all entrenched, systemic corruption itself---the governor (where are you, Preet Bharara---you missed the biggest, rotting fish head of them all)!

In the end, the story is the same as in the beginning---it's: Delay, Deny---And, Hope That You Die (where complainants actually HAVE DIED)! No matter what, de Blasio has to go---his 15 minutes have expired in 2014---and, long before 2014 reached year's end---and' that's just the beginning! Tragically, there are dozens of corrupt sycophants in Albany and City Hall who continue to corrupt the system to complete dysfunction---the reason why baby boomers are moving out of this ravaged state of epic, humanitarian (and ecological) fail, as soon as they can, like it was radioactive!

Cops on the take? LOL!
Nothing new here. Where is Serpico when you need him?

Wattsamatta...a police pension isn't enough?
Throw the sorry bum into general pop and let the prison inmates have their fun with this crook!
In my opinion, anytime anyone in a government post gets convicted of a crime, they should serve a tripple sentence.
They are supposed to be setting examples of honesty and service.
Imagine how a child looks at a crooked cop or politician.
