Queens Machine chooses Simanowitz's successor

From the Times Ledger:

Following the death of state Assemblyman Michael Simanowitz (D-Flushing), the Queens Democratic Party has nominated David Rosenthal, a Kew Gardens resident.

Rosenthal has worked as district director for Councilman Rory Lancman (D-Hillcrest) and his nomination came with high praise from the Queens Democratic Party chairman, U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-Jackson Heights).

Almost fell off my chair! They are surely out of their collective minds! "Lapdog" is a good word, (sarc).

Nice, attacking him on his appearance, typical Queens Crap comments. The machine had to endorse him because he would have won regardless. He is well respected and he is also not a big fan of Toby Stavitsky. He is known to be very accessible to people and people in the district come to him when things aren't getting done. He was the only one in my neighborhood fighting the Buks when they tried to pull there development crap.

Instead of the name calling and mindless accusations of being corrupt, why not look into him first. He was hired to get things done when everyone else was a crony. Give him a chance. Tony Avella started as an aide to a councilman and his council run was endorsed by the Queens Machine.

Rosenthal is strongly anti-jails and anti-homeless shelters in his district and huge opponent of overdeveloping properties and McMansions. He is very open about protecting the Specialized High Schools and specialized courses from being lame due to Affirmative Action changes. Everything else he will probably toe the party line.

Brian Barnwell did the same thing. Nice guy, accessible and cares about the hood. Until he gets into office and the status quo get their claws into him.

Does this kid even live in the 27th assembly district????

THIS IS THE SAME SCRIPT THEY ALWAYS USE - THEY DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO CHANGE THE PLAYBOOK ANYMORE. THE GUY IS A PARTY RUBBER STAMP OR THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER BOTHERED TO NOMINATE HIM.

He's a machine guy, and will owe his position to the machine, but as someone who's worked with him over the last few years, I can say that he's intelligent and competent. I guess we'll have to wait to see how he votes before we can really decide.

Alas, We, the People continue to be under siege by a democracy free 'Hijack-and-Hostage' power grabbing government henchmen that has long ago destroyed all pretense of public trust, ethics, integrity, accountability and transparency, and this fledgling, entrenched, establishment-rigged replacement is a testament to how the entirely hijacked, political process is an exclusionary manifestation of extreme corruption that is now openly practiced, and without consequence (except for everyone else within the voting rank and file, all of whom continue to pay the ultimate, soul-crushing price), and the public be damned (again and STILL)!

The only way to rid a scourge like this is to make all public corruption a capital offense.

just like Brian Barnwell -- who is a waste

He looks 12. Best of luck.

I've seen him grow from intern to staffer to candidate. As his former colleague and likely constituent, what matters to me is the talent and ability to get the job done. If any of the commentators here are unsatisfied, get a clipboard and hit the pavement.

Where did they get this guy from?

Great kid, went to Forest Hills High School. Really nice kid. If you all don't like him then stop making fun of his appearance and do something about it? This is the problem, complaining that the Dem Organization of Queens has their shit together and getting people elected, legally, and everyone else just standing their with their hands in their pockets and crying.

Start a club and grow. Grow with influence. Become petition hawks and soon they will respect you. Then from there influence district leaders and neighbors door-to-door. Stop fucking complaining and being nasty bullies hiding behind computers and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. This website is a great start but will be a dead end unless you all get your shit together. Bob Holden had a chance and you all fucked it up by not stepping up and doing more. Until that happens we are all just looked at as jealous of the Political Machines.

When you see the people from history that were in their position because they 'could get the job done' - and see that they did with that power given to them to do the bidding of others, you might want to reconsider those remarks my friend.

Hack follows hack in the Democratic Party. No wonder Trump got elected.
Better wake up you damn Dems!
Welcome to the one party great Democratic dictatorship of Queens county! Where there's no real competition, you get the stagnancy of corruption!

It's political, corporate obedient indoctrination from the previous political henchmen, indoctrinating the NEXT generation of corporate obedience and failed public service. And, as long as the two-party-machine-failed duopoly remains in totalitarian, dictator style power, then nothing will ever change, Queens peasants——because, NOTHING EVER CHANGES!

There are very inspiring words being written here and good references by commenters that know/are acquainted with the candidate.

But

Having Joe Crowley's endorsement damages the guy. Especially when his patronage nepotism scheme gets more attention and focus from the authorities. Something is coming...

And he does resemble Milhouse and Dave Garroway (I had to look that up, and laughed heartily when I did). To be fair, he looks like he can be an agent for that horrible movie the Kingsmen.

of course...

Whether he lives in the district or not is immaterial...Joe Crowley lives in Virginia and the there lawyers who control the committee run it out of Nassau.. the fix is in and always will be

Anonymous said...

Is he old enough to vote? Walk?

>Having Joe Crowley's endorsement damages the guy.

It's impossible to get the Democratic nod without Crowley's endorsement. There's no primary (which for once is justified since the vacancy is due to a tragic death, rather than a strategic resignation), so the machine will pick their candidate.
