A crap on the ranch

66-67 & 66-69 78th Street, Middle Village, just one block west of Pinky's office. Ranch houses in this R4 & R5 neighborhood are exceedingly rare.
Goodbye, cute little yard tree! Here comes a big pile of Queens Crap courtesy of a Manhasset-based developer.

Nice house. The replacement will be right at home with the existing crap pile in the background. (Ironic juxtaposition for the "tear it down for something new" mentaility--somone parked a nice, well-mainatained, vintage Dodge Dart--1966, I believe-- in front of the site).

The hell with the community, a delightful garden, and a good example of the ranch style! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!!!

(C'mon...you know the jingle well)

I allways like this ranch style house - it was one of the nicer ones in the area. Ok now what is to be in it's place, a Chinese style temple complex for 100 people? Ugh.......

Actually, having 3 one and two family houses on that property is more in character with the existing houses on that block. Isn't that what you always say you want?

Check out the postings on astorians.com on development.

This is where your problem is.

Every time you see comments that favor this on any blog, sign up and give 'em an earful.

Make the climate in Queens hostile to this on every level.

BTW, isn't it great that established groups, like Queens Civic Congress, want to embrace 'managed' growth (of course, for someone else's neighborhood, preferably in western Queens)? You are never going to get anywhere as long as stupid ideas like that go unchallenged.

Who are you upset with? The builder is going to build three one- or two-family houses, which is appropriate for a property of this size, in line with the zoning regulations, and is similar to other houses right next to it. What's the problem? Did you want the homeowner to take less money when he sold his house so you could keep looking at a ranch house the few times you pass by it?

The house to the left of this is another ranch house. There is a parking lot to the right, I believe.

Most builders
can't help crapping all over the place.

Maybe it's a result of their diet....h-m-m-m ?

Nah !

Paying off politicians gives them the runs!

And? 90% of the houses in this neighborhood are attached one- and two-family houses, including almost every house on the block where this one is located.
