Bloomberg defends tax hike

Mayor Bloomberg, who is attempting to push an increase in the city's sales tax through Albany next year, is arguing that revenues from the tax are essential to the city.

18 Ed Dept. bigs making at least 190G

"If you can tell me which programs you'd like to cut, which city employees you'd like to lay off, which neighborhoods you don't want to protect, I'd be happy to listen to that," he said yesterday at a press conference in Brooklyn when asked about the tax.

I wouldn't have any problem doing that. Let's start here and here.

What is he doing about Commissioner Lancaster is a more pressing issue?

Where to cut: Easy eliminate tax abatements for all new realestate development in the city.

End self certification - charge % point fee of value of property built to be CO by appointment.

Impose system of fines given to developers for unsafe practices - involve Fire Dept. to enforce saftey laws on building sites. 3 fines and developer's contractor loses license for 6 months.

Register contruction workers in skillset classification and saftey training - given and paid onsite by developer. Stamp out illegal aliens as tradesman - shut down work site for 3 months and fine Developer for criminally hiring such people. DOB to work mandatory weekend hours where many homeowners illegally convert their properties - greater enforcement and capture illegal contractors - fines.

Maybe some of the compensation of Bloomberg's top management is a bit high on a case-by-case basis, but how much do you think the people in senior levels of government, running the biggest city in the country, should be getting paid? $150,000-$200,000 isn't a ridiculous salary for highly skilled, top-management level people.

Thanks Mayor Bloomberg. You are trying to make it impossible to live in this city.

I hope your congestion pricing and any tax hikes you propose are turned down. Look for something that doesn't hurt those not as fortunate as you. The working class people can't afford your proposals.

True, but look on the bright side, you can now share your home with someone to make things a little easier

Good, your Highness, give the rest of your opponents for Prez fodder for your demise. I so hope he runs. He wont be humbled, he will be humiliated. I am very strong-minded in terms of politics, but generally, I respect advocates on the other side. But with Bloomberg, I have a fervent hatred. I would love to see him run, cough up a billion dollars and then waddle his way back to the private sector, where he will certainly be - less public.

Bloomberg = friend of mega-business, enemy of freedom

A free country does not need a Mary Poppins as commander-in-chief

Notice the blatant threat: Protest any tax hike and I'll cut police services.

A truer Stalinist Commissar doesn't yet exist - unless Hillary wins.

Why are DOB and DEP employees using official cars for personal purposes?

Cut the corruption and lower the tax rates.

First of all, its called 'public service'. If these people want to make $$$ they can stay in the private sector and pad their wallets. There is no reason why the sanitation commish of NYC should make more than Supreme Court Justices or the Prez.

I would personally derive great satisfaction
in slipping into a pair of hard leather jack boots....
mounting the steps of city hall.....
walking into hizzoner's office
and kicking his puny little ass out of office !

But I suppose I'll have to be content to wait
until the great actuarial table of term limits
claims him.

What an aloof uncaring cold gutted shark
we've gotten stuck with for what passes as a mayor!

Bring back a crusader like La Guardia......
somebody who would flush corruption
from the chambers of municipal government
with the force of a fire hose !

Police and fire protection services
have already been cut from certain neighborhoods.

Check out some of the statistics regarding
slower NYPD response times and firehouse closings.

What a backhanded way of hollowing out
an area prior to it being slated for over development!

Take a good look at the mayor's overpaid staff. I doubt Nazli is worth that much...

She would be worth it if she were continuing to cater to the Commissar's official, business and social soirees.

And be paid by our tax dollars!

Apart from that catering job, she's worthless.
