Domino Sugar Factory calendared

I won't even bother to list the historically and architecturally significant properties in Queens that have met the wrecking ball because the LPC decided not to intervene. Yet they were in a rush to calendar this when it became threatened with alteration.

LPC's Historical Context for Calendaring Domino

Crack...They must be smoking it up on the 9th floor of 1 Centre Street.

Hey....Brooklyn preservationists are alert, smart, resourceful, determined and tough!

Nothing like that could be said for Queens!

"Tsk, tsk, tsk....it's all gone" is what you usually hear from our tired old crew!

How much does anyone want to bet that the Sohmer factory will be approved as a landmark: it will be a four story skirt with a ten story tower.

It will be hailed as an excellent example (from those forward thinking people of Queens) of adaptive reuse.

As long as the tower is built in the Art Crappo style, who cares?

The LIC Power plant design looks goofy. Remove the stacks then add on more floors?

Yuck!

The LIC power plant conversion looks like a 5 year old designed it. Just like when kids build with wooden blocks, and then put a little house made from legos on top.

I want to know what architecture school is giving these morons their diplomas.

The chimney looks like a middle-finger giving you "the high sign".
