From the NY Observer's blog, The Politicker:
Gallagher Fund-Raising, Aiming Local
Councilman Dennis Gallagher is having a fund-raiser next week at Russo’s on the Bay featuring billionaire John Catsimatidis on the finance committee.
So, what is Gallagher running for? He’s term-limited and, he told me, he’s not interested in running for Congress.
“Washington isn’t the type of place where I would want to be an elected official," he told me. "In the city and on the state level you could accomplish a great deal more impact on people’s quality of life. For me, all politics is local.”
You display excellent command of the English language, Dennis. We assume by "accomplish a great deal more impact on people's quality of life," you mean screwing your constituents by lining your pockets with developer donations in return for promoting overdevelopment and declaring war against community volunteers.
Your speculation is welcome.
Thank you, Azi. QC speculates that Parkside is helping Pinky raise money but he will not run, instead opting to transfer his slush fund monies to whichever crony he picks as his replacement. The rest will be distributed as legal bribes to other politicians when he becomes a lobbyist.
