St. Albans and Hollis to be rezoned

City Eyes Rezoning In Hollis, St. Albans

“This is to protect the residents from over development,” [Councilman Leroy] Comrie said. “Just like every other place in the city, there has been an explosion of over development.”

The plan would replace broad R3-2 and R4 zones that encompass more than 300 blocks with lower-density zoning, which would ban multi-family garden apartments and rowhouses allowed under the current zoning law.

City will rezone Hollis, St. Albans

The area slated to be rezoned is bounded by Merrick Boulevard to the west, Springfield Boulevard to the north, Francis Lewis Boulevard to the east and a combination of 99th Avenue and Brinkerhoff Avenue to the north.

Gee, now I am really getting confused. Everything I read and hear in WESTERN Queens, be it the newspapers, or the politicians, tells me that DEVELOPEMENT IS GOOD!!!

I wonder if we can invite the councilman to give a talk about this in LIC, and perhaps invite Gioia, Vallone, Gianaris, and Bricklayer Onorato to special seats in the front row (have to invite the local civics and community boards and civics, and, oh yes, respresentatives of the newspapers, too!)

Perhaps they can learn something.

Don't forget Dutch Kills...and some of those groups in the northern part of the area, too!

You know, the only 'civics' in the city that actually welcomes illegal conversions.

I still think its illegal to downzone certain areas with pull while other communities are getting hosed by their reps.

All of Queens should be downzoned!

Well, not to worry. Those areas getting downzoned are still going to pay the price of overdevelopment because it will still hit their pocketbook and services.

Besides, they will discover like the folks in Brooklyn. Once an area gets downzoned, enforcement is another issue.

And variances, oh wait till they discover what happens when they get variances!!

Dutch Kills isn't the only civic unconcerned - the Ozone Park Civic holds its meetings in a totally illegally constructed building.
