Brooklyn Brewery being priced out

Poor Steve Hindy...

...the Brooklyn beer magnate was...an outspoken supporter of a massive neighborhood rezoning—debated for years before finally being approved in 2005—that didn’t exactly work out the way he envisioned.

Unlikely Power Broker Bullish on Brooklyn

“I’m being priced out of this neighborhood,” he said.

The man credited with bringing brewing back to Brooklyn, where beer factories once thrived pre-Prohibition, has been cheering on big development a lot lately.

His vocal support for developer Bruce Ratner’s controversial Atlantic Yards project, in particular, drew the ire of some of his most devoted customers and even prompted a small-scale boycott of his hallowed local brews.

Mr. Hindy told The Observer that he doesn’t cozy up to all developers. Just Bruce Ratner.

Well if you're only going to cozy up to one developer, might as well do it with a real big pig rather than a puny runt. Although, the big ones can end up crushing you...

P.S. Brooklyn Brewery beer has always been "blech" in my opinion.

BB's IPA is very good. But I won't buy it anymore now that I know this guy supports Ratner. Shame!

Sounds to me like Steve managed to summon up instant karma.

Never buddy up with a mobster, a developer, or a politician.

You will get burned everytime (well at least the mobsters have a soft spot for their moms.)
