From NY1:
Brooklyn state senator Carl Kruger resigned from his post Tuesday moments before pleading guilty to charges he participated in a bribery scheme.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Kruger, 62, and co-defendant Michael Turano, 50, accepted nearly half a million dollars in exchange for green-lighting several projects for lobbyists and business people.
Turano, a Manhattan-based gynecologist, also pled guilty.
Before entering court, Kruger's letter of resignation was delivered to the Secretary of State Senate.
It takes effect immediately.
Kruger faces the possibility of up to 50 years in prison; Turano faces 20.
Both are scheduled to be sentenced on April 26.

Wait! I thought he was innocent!! Hahahaha!!! Pay attention, Liu.
don't tell me that this guy is a democrat political thief?
i am in shock......
They're all thieves...
Power corrupts...
Both parties...
Anon No. 2:
Then why did the Republicans keep doing business with him? They're all in bed together.
Here comes another local victory for the GOP.
Do the lobbyists also get in trouble? And the interests they represent?
They should!
Now that the Feds have done their job in getting Carl "Crud" Kruger to plead guilty, their job is NOT OVER.
The South Brooklyn politicians , who include Councilman Domenic Recchia, Councilman Mike Nelson, Assemlbyman Brook-Krasny are also part of the same "Pay for Play" culture of corruption.
Especially, the City Coucil Finance Chair Domenic Recchia. Anyone in that high position of power ( don't forget Kruger was also Finance Chair up in Albany)
should be be audited by the US Justice Dept.
Don't forget there was ( I don't know if it's ongoing) the SLUSH FUND SCANDAL in the NYC Council.
Councilman Domenic Recchia has his eyes on the NYC Comptroller job. Do you want him to be watching your Pension ???
Not Mine.
I'm sure all of Kruger's Friends, that is Councilman Domenic Recchia, Councilman Mike Nelson, Assemblyman Brook-Krasny will all write to the sentencing judge pleadinf that Carl kruger get a light sentence.
Throw the BUM in jail..give him the MAX.
He stole from the taxpayers of NYC & NYS to pad his own pocket. He betrayed the public trust.
Case closed. Let's move onto the others.
Amen to that! Both parties are corrupt. It's all about the money. Never about the people they are supposed to represent. Term limit ALL politicians -- Congress included.
the "both parties are corrupt" "they are all crooks " commenters are embellishing to hide their shame and ignorance for voting the democrat line every election. in nyc.
you dimnwits gave us a dem. dictatorship with no CHECKS AND BALANCES.
we tried to warn the citizensof ny for 40 years , you would not listen .
when the new pols. get in ,check out what they are voting for . if they disagree with your quality of life ,vote them out quickly.
nyc is a shameful mess at the present.
You ignore ai inconvenient fact, Gramps. When the Republicans in the State Senate make deals with people like Kruger, Espada and Monserrate they not only become partners with them, but also empower them to do worse things.
Vote them out? Only if people like Dean Skelos, the chief dealer is voted out also.
Yep, they're all this way. New Congressman Turner will go to the darkside also. It;s just a matter of time....and money.
it is reported that both Kruger and Turano "CRIED A RIVER' in the court room. it is thought that most of their money stolen from taxpayers is well hidden, and may never be recovered.
They need a special prison upstate just for all the New York Politicos who are being hauled off and this is just the ones who get caught!
