Cuomo keeps LGA air train plan alive while the city trains don't run on time

NY Post

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday refused to back down from his $2 billion plans for an AirTrain to LaGuardia Airport — even while admitting the Big Apple’s transit system is facing an unprecedented financial crisis.

Cuomo insisted that the widely panned scheme was still “essential” for New York City, even as the Port Authority was forced to ax jobs and freeze other investments amid a coronavirus-induced downturn in travelers.

“It’ll be the single greatest economic boost that has been done in generations,” the governor insisted at a press briefing Sunday as he was challenged about sticking with the expensive project despite the cash crunch.

Still do not understand how the pull of owners of some property on a few blocks on 20th Ave who are against this will cause multitudes to go out of their way to get to the airport via Flushing - or what will likely happen is not to bother and take a taxi across the Triboro.

Time was when delusional idiots like this guy were placed in insane asylums for the good of society. Nowadays they get to be in politics and impose their criminal insanity on all to the detriment of society. Even many of the original gauletiers in Nazi Germany were more firmly grounded in reality than this modern day American gauleiter.

Where is Michael when you need him? Bring him home now. Maybe he can talk some sense into his brothers.

The only "single greatest economic boost" will be to Cuomo's pocketbook. This plan stinks to high heaven. We all know there is a backroom deal that benefits Cuomo NOT the ordinary citizen. Take those billions of dollars and put the people back to work fixing the existing systems. If not, this jerk needs to be put out to pasture -- permanently.

Meanwhile Cuomo proposed to rehabilitate train stations of the 7 line in Queens but not make them ADA like the new one in Astoria or 74th Roosevelt. No money for elevators at those stations. The only extension that would make any sense would to extend the Astoria elevated line to the airport and then bury it as it gets near. What moron would go to Citifield to pay $6 for a longer ride? The free bus from 74th street is a bargain and quicker.

The Cuomo/Debozio corporatist apparatus has a troll army on twitter that will be attacking anyone that questions this scam. Using the same lies and shaming you for even questioning.
