Katz finally working on Jamaica cleanup

Photo from Cleanup Jamaica Queens
From AM-NY:

A new pilot program aimed at cleaning up Jamaica’s streets will also benefit formerly homeless people looking to build job skills.

Borough President Melinda Katz unveiled the “Jamaica Together: A Neighborhood Cleaning Effort” program on Tuesday, announcing a six-month partnership with the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless (ACE) as well as other community stakeholders.

The initiative will lean on ACE-paid workers to clean up and beautify a section of Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, between Tuskegee Airmen Way and 109th Avenue, according to Kat’s office. ACE, a non-profit organization, works with recovering homeless people in the city by providing support services and helping them build key skills that will enable them to obtain and maintain a job.

“Jamaica is one of our borough’s core neighborhoods and it is critically important that we do all we can to make it a fantastic place to live, work and visit,” Katz said. “This program is just one part of our overall effort to revitalize Jamaica and maximize its potential as a residential and commercial hub.”

Each weekday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a two-person crew will go out along Guy R. Brewer Boulevard to clean the sidewalks and tree pits and remove unauthorized graffiti. The workers will be overseen by a supervisor from ACE, per Katz’s office.

Beautify? What does that mean? ACE workers just clean sidewalks.

Silly me, I thought we already pay the sanitation department and other city agencies union wages to do this kind of work. So now we have two guys picking up some crap and, one guy standing there on his cell phone watching them until it's time to go hide and sleep for their morning coffee break. At only an additional cost to the taxpayer of what? $2M? $3M? Sounds great.

Whoah! Jamaica is back influx!

Why so long our borough hostess? Are those new out of scale towers starting to top off? Has Chetrit got their stop work orders lifted for their behemoth tower after a worker got killed on their lot hauling too much materials during the supposed suspension?

Any word about shell company/LLC investors looking to open up quirky theme eateries there?

For Jamaica, the capital of the dirty southeast, as been overwrought with perpetual pollution on the ground and in the ether for decades and has exacerbated under the worthless, useless and unnecessary tenure and office of the current boro president.

I yield the floor to Joe Moretti, the arbiter and authority for this way belated proposal.

I couldn't care less what filth that Melinda 'Alley' Katz is cleaning up (after awakening from suspended animation for more than two decades - her REAL cradle-to-grave government life of epic fail).

After she affirmed in July 2014, that she wouldn't be taking any action to return Kew Gardens' beloved statue (and public art work), Triumph of Civic Virtue' (that was robbed by former Borough President-in-Thief, Helen Marshall), and the vile thievery action that cost taxpayers' more than $200,000 (instead of a simple cleaning for the statue that should have been maintained WAY BACK in the 1980s, when walking corpse, Claire Schulman was the FIRST worthless excuse/sycophantic BP whore of the past to thoroughly pollute and betray Queens Borough Hall, with impunity), whose intense incompetence was governed by the hyper-corruption of an arrogant coward like Donald Manes), well, that told me everything that I needed to know about this hostile, bullying, UNACCOUNTABLE administration of epic, humanitarian fail.

In a way, I am glad that our statue is at peace in Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery (despite how it was a move that defied We, the People, and the ever languishing taxpayer), because under THIS crooked-and-corrupt administration (and the ones before it), it's abundantly clear that there was NEVER any room, much less demand for 'Civic Virtue,' in the always politically 'ravaged-and-tonsured' Queens County that is now the official gateway to 'The Fourth World!'

And, the ever languishing public be eternally duped, bilked, robbed, scammed, SCARRED FOR LIFE, and damned!

Oh please stop crying about that ugly statue.

How do I get work doing nothing in Jamaica? That's what the criminal idiots they hire will do. Nothing. Only aspiring rappers who are turning their lives around should apply. Have a criminal record and a social worker who believes your lies in order to get this job. We won't talk about their victims. Ever.

I agree with the commenter who is mortified that the Dept of Sanitation, the Dept of Health and the other city employees make work program can't take care of the garbage. That's what they get paid to do.

SURE, that will make Jamaica, SURE.

Pretty much seems like another wasted program that allows the hacks of Jamaica and city government to stand in front of a camera, smile and show how hard they work, while flushing more money down the crapper, while not solving any issues, but instead making hacks like Katz feel good for their high salary and attempting to get more votes because "Look, what we are doing for you folks". AND isn't that what DOS is for (even though they do a half ass job to begin with), plus this is just a temp thing, then it disappears in Jamaica, like pride, manners and respect. A better plan would be to hire many sanitation officers (which some of the not so far gone homeless could be trained for with a decent living wage to go around and enforce the damn litter laws to STOP every dirty diaper being tossed on the sidewalk, every bottle thrown on the ground, every person dumping their illegal apartment garbage in public trash cans, etc. This bullshit Katz Krap is just another band-aid that does not even sound good on paper, does absolutely nothing (except pick up after slobs) and does not get to the crux of the problem in Jamaica.

In the meantime I came through by foot and in my THANKFULLY former hood and what a DAMN FUCKING MESS, it was worse than when I left. Merrick Blvd continues to be a major eyesore that the thug auto body shops have taken over with their junked cars on sidewalks, side streets and blocking the one lane of super busy Merrick causing a bottle neck and major safety issue, the parks are a mess of garbage including Roy Wilkins, garbage everywhere on ever inch of surface and HOMELESS, HOMELESS, HOMELESS and the typical Jamaica ghetto bullshit nonsense that has been going on for decades there. I saw even more auto body shops that have set up business all over the area, which is like I said awhile back, the NEW WILLETS POINT. Crap does not just disappear from other parts of Queens or the city, it just moves to Jamaica.

Polluting and poisonous Royal Waste is still in operation right near thousands of homes and this "wonderful downtown" that asshole Katz talks about, with huge waste trucks barreling all throughout the area 27/7 and still parking underneath the LIRR overpasses posing a dangerous situation, which I had brought up several times when I lived there, BUT as usual NO ENFORCEMENT.

The LIRR station there is as usual ONE BIG FUCKING MESS of congestion, garbage, homeless, addicts and other assorted nonsense, but then that can be said of pretty much every part of Jamaica, ONE BIG FUCKING MESS with some of the laziest, do nothing and shady elected officials all crammed together in one big shit hole. Jamaica Center station, pretty much a homeless encampment (why you see so many homeless sprawled out on pretty much every car of the E train) is another major shit hole highlight of garbage and nonsense.

BUT, what has Katz or any of her asshole predecessors done, what have the local elected officials, community leaders, community board and church leaders (since there is at least two store front churches on every other block) really done for so many years besides dump over 32 homeless shelters in the area, allow a polluting company (Royal Waste) to continue to poison the people (Jamaica has the highest asthma & other respiratory diseases in the city), allow irresponsible over-development in an already congested over-crowded area. I mean can this hack or anyone else give actually specific and solid facts on their achievements that have actually improved the area and quality of life, while addressing and solving just the easy to fix quality of life issues. AND how many years are you going to keep throwing out the word "revitalize Jamaica".

As someone who had lived in this awful cesspool for 7 years IT IS NOT a fantastic (hell not even mediocre) place to live, certainly is not a fantastic place to visit and if you work there, you probably look forward to quitting time to get the hell out of a uncivilized and filthy area.

Alas, no matter how much this malignant 'Alley' Katz attempts to marginally clean up Jamaica, or anywhere else (ironically, only AFTER she was capriciously and arbitrarily elected to a brazen second term, throughout a lifetime of purported public service that has never served anyone except herself, and her intensely incompetent cronies), I would sooner bet on winning a 9-digit lottery ticket, than to trust this politically failed hack to clean a litter box!

Face it, Queens peasants: You will NEVER be free of corruption, graft and greed under a present administration of City Hall and Queens Borough Hall, both of which are so completely hyper-corrupt, entrenched and establishment-rigged (with decades of decaying and desiccated layers of hierarchically rotting corruption graft and greed), that the entire system of 'taxation WITHOUT representation' is beyond the point of salvation, much less therapy, sanity and that ever missing element of ACCOUNTABILITY (followed by all publicly unauthorized pay bumps for these voracious thieves - and, the public be damned)!

The best decision that you could make is to follow in my lead: I bought a nice, bucolic, three bedroom country home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, replete with riparian views of the Majestic Delaware River, and I finally bolted from Dodge City, and rented both of my Queens homes out to newly arrived Third World types (both husband and wife are doctors from the 'ORIGINAL' Third World, both of whom work for a major Manhattan hospital in this, their NEWEST Third World, 2.0), and the third, immaculate house that I inherited in Forest Hills Gardens is used ONLY for emergencies, when I have to see my local, NYC doctors and other relative appointments.

As for the rest of the week, I am fortunate that I can work from home on my laptop, still get paid a mid, six-figure salary, and now I am collecting two, tax-free rentals at $6,000 a piece for each of my homes (cash only), and I don't give a fuck about it, after Queens County has robbed me blind over the last 30 years of epic, government fail.

And, I sleep even better at nights than an openly practicing criminal like Katz and her kindle of rabid-and-feral sycophants, because for once it feels SOOOOO good to get something for nothing (and they should know, because they never stopped their obscene, 'ALL PAY and NO WORK' gravy train of sycophantic exclusion, which has left everyone else derailed for life in its crooked wake)!

BYE BYE, FOURTH WORLD - HELLO, BEAUTIFUL BUCKS COUNTY! Now, where did I put my party size canoe for lazyin' on the great river?

To second to last Anonymous who stated: 'Oh, please stop crying about that ugly statue.'

That 'ugly' statue represents YOUR total loss of freedom and democracy, you clueless troglodyte, where the only ugliness that I see here is YOU and your incredible ignorance that was indoctrinated by previous generations of your lower class clan.

Contrary to your staggering ignorance, there is nothing ugly about 'Triumph of Civic Virtue,' much less the allegorical message that it continues to reinforce: Civic Virtue triumphing victoriously over all corruption and vice, over which you obviously know nothing about――except only to cry and bitch about――now that your completely rescinded and abrogated freedoms are 'gone, baby gone,' while you hardly noticed until it was too late (typical crybaby in Queens County, without a purpose and direction in life).

Hence, if you are so concerned about getting work for doing nothing, then JOIN the City Hall MAFIA of Bill de BLASS-hole, and his Affirmative Action crew of societal-and-academic dropouts, petunia, because no one has ever CHANGED the city's entrenched, establishment-rigged, political MAFIA by JOINING IT――ironically, a lesson in wisdom that the 'ugly' statue that you so verbally loathe and detest, knows ALL ABOUT systemic corruption and vice). So, good luck with THAT, toots!

No matter how much truth, fact, evidence and proof that Voicer Joe Moretti provides, the monstrously failed political leadership will STILL walk away with an obscene, six-figure salary AND defined pension system that was always designated for their ever languishing subjects.

The intensely corrupt system continues, IN PERPETUITY, to reward their entrenched hacks with even more privilege, power and graft for which everyone else pays the ultimate, soul-crushing price. At this rate, it will take another 50-plus years to wait for death to prevail at City Hall AND Queens Borough Hall, but even before the rotting bodies of these diseased corpses are cold, there will be a NEW and FORTIFIED regime of brutality to fill in their crooked-and-corrupt placement.

In the end, if you think that Jamaica is a filthy mess, then you haven't seen ANYTHING regarding the crooked mess that has entrenched Queens Borough Hall itself, which has only worsened exponentially, ever since the cowardly suicide of Queens County criminal, Donald Manes (and even before that, dating back to the 1930s). In fact, the breeding point of all of this boroughwide corruption, graft, greed, cover-ups, kickbacks, payoffs, cronyism, nepotism, favoritism, sweetheart deals, and overall government tyranny makes Bernard Madoff look like a quaint misdemeanor!

Above all of the corruption, Joe Moretti, be thankful that you left that raw sewage plant, where hopefully it will explode all over the filthiest political scourges, all of whom SO ORDERED the depravity, sociopathy and unprecedented psychopathy.

For the umpteenth time, you can't clean up Jamaica until you cleanup it's residents. And cleaning out Queens Boro Hall couldn't hurt either.

Boro Hall is running out of Band-Aids.
