At the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden in Astoria, Queens, my friends and I watched in shock as a father changed his child’s diaper on a vacant table, pitying the person who would sit there next with a pilsner and kielbasa.

That is so disgusting! Was he drunk? Dopn't they have changing tables in the bathrrom? I know after hearing this, I wont be going there. I mean really, on the table?
I'm betting they don't have changing tables in the bathroom. I never took note because I never needed one before, but now that I do have a baby, I've noticed most indy restaurants don't have changing tables. I'd still never change my baby on a table in the middle of the restaurant. Unless it was poop it could wait.
There are people who feel the need to bring their kids EVERYWHERE not realizing that not everyone thinks their angel is adorable. My question is why would you WANT to bring your baby out with you when you wanna hang out with your friends? The baby isn't going to let you enjoy yourself. Get a sitter!
I have been to Bohemian Hall plenty of times and have never seen this.
There is a steady undercurrent in that community's leadership to close that place and develop the land.
It gets slammed for stupid things on astorians.com, for example, while that other place (rumored to be owned in part by the Vallones) opens right next to a school and booms noise that can be heard all the way out to Steinway Street.
Bohemian Hall is pretty staid and always has been. By the way, I went there as a minor, GASP, no one offered me any beer and I am a moderate, occasional social drinker today. Not a drunk, not a rowdy.
Just to clarify, I did not post this to disparage Bohemian Hall, which is a rather fine establishment. I posted it to show the crass selfish nature of those who dwell among us.

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap

This is why my mom stopped taking us to Coney Island as a child. Diaper changing on the beach and leaving the feces on the sand.
People are gross! He should be force fed what was in that diaper!
Pretty disturbing.

What kind of mom and dad bring a baby to a beer hall anyway?
Probably low class habitual bar flies!

It is a cultural thing - they are from middle Europe and kids go to beer gardens as a matter of course.
And you know what?
The incidence of drunkenness is a fraction of US or western Europe.

Being involved with Bohemian Hall for over 18 years I can state that this is more a reflection of the person, not the place.
Bohemian Hall does not condone this.
Having WORKED at Bohemian Hall off and on for the past 3 years, I have never seen this.
Look out other beer garden. The Times is on patrol.
Baby changing at BH!
Drug deals at ____?

Crap, we believe you.
But when the Times, the newspaper of Bloomberg and the developers, has similiar dirt on that other beer garden, things will be even.
And there is plenty for them to write about as rumor has it....
so lets see - the ball is in their court...
Ach, Gemuetlichkeit mit Kindern! That's for me! Eins, zwei, g'suffa! Hey what's this s___t?!?!
Erratum. [Hick...belch] For you Bavarian dialect purists, that "zwei" should be "zwoi".
And it's Bohemian Hall, not Bavarian or German anything.
