Queens hipster annoys MTA

This is what bored hipsters are now doing to pass their time...

I'm guessing he didn't grow up here.

Definitely not. I can't believe this idiot is getting press for what? picking stuff from the trash? Who the hell doesn't 'repurpose' trash every now and then?

Anonymous said...

Yes we all reuse trash there buddy."create a new economy"???What the fudge are you talking about there shaky jake.See the chairs in the stations are bolted down in some artful fashion so they dont end up on the tracks and make tons of people pissed and late for work.
I like art as much as the next person but..this is not, its just getting in the way.Find some insoles in the garbage or a store and sit on the train. You've succeeded in slightly annoying me.Was that the art purpose?

Anonymous said...

Maybe hes from Mars Pennsylvania. Its all those likes that gave it away and Mccain jitters.

I love the way that some "artists" who lack the drawing skills... of let's say a Leonardo Da Vinci...
love to call their fart-istic creations "INSTALLATIONS"!

I call it littering!

Has he been issued a summons
or fined yet?

H-m-m-m....and maybe some of his street furniture is transporting bedbugs into our public transportation system.

Glad to see some of these dopes priced out of LIC.
Maybe they'll move back to Nebraska.

Anonymous said...

Yes! It's great to see these dopes priced out of LIC. Cause you know YOU'll never get priced out. And if you do, you won't whine and cry about how New York's become a playground for billionaires. You'll suck it up and move to Toledo like a good girl.

Eppink's project is more useful to the average commuter than the silly waterfalls, orange gates, or plastic cows. But art it isn't.

Anonymous said...

I think it's a good idea
and you're all a bunch of grouchy cynics.

Anonymous said...

Sounds good until it ends up on the tracks are becomes property of the homeless.

Anonymous said...

A lot of you dumb fart-ists never think about the future...
like maybe eventually buying the "studios" you occupy.

So after you've "beautified" the nabe for your landlord and increased the value of his holdings, he'll toss you out and you're off to Iowa
(unless you can afford remaining in high priced NYC)!

Better take some business courses along with your life drawing classes lest you become perennial art slaves to the NYC real estate moguls!.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather be a cynic
with some decent cash flow rather than trying to hawk my canvases on the sidewalks of Union Square
(weather permitting)!

Anonymous said...

Waste of time. The MTA is just going to remove them.

This guy's a "Genius"! He's obviously the Andy Warhol of our sub-prime, No money/no job/no credit/no problem!, maxed out credit cards, devalued US dollar, outsourced jobs, "undocumented guest workers", overseas military adventures, bloated, free spending government times!

I can't wait until he starts installing "wallpaper" in Williamsburg artist lofts using sub-prime mortgage documents!

What a GENIUS! He's obviously WAY MORE talented than Rembrandt, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo COMBINED!

If I were you, I'd snatch one of his chairs.....excuse me.....artwork....from the subway platform, REAL QUICK! It's going to be worth MILLIONS in a couple of months! Even more than Mark Kostabi's work!

I can't understand why this guy never worked on Wall Street! If he did, this whole economic mess would have never happened! He's quite the erudite polymath artistic scholar!

Welcome back Wade.

Hey, this is the new hipster they tell us that revitalizes neighborhoods.

Maybe there is a place for him at Queens Council on the Arts, just around the corner.

Anonymous said...

These are "HYPESTERS" promoting themselves...transient newbies...
rootless urban tumbleweed!

Yeah...just like that old song...
"Drifting along like the tumbling tumbleweed"!

Anonymous said...

Even more annoying then this "hipster" dofus' "art project" is his manner of speaking:

One day I passed three chairs in the trash in one block, and I thought, ‘what a waste, those are like perfectly good chairs’

“I’m really interested in like the economics of it.”

He speaks just like, ya know, like every other hipster idiot and slutty chick in New York, or something, or like, whatever, dude.

Anonymous said...

wade, just because people say "like", doesn't make them a hipster or a slut, only a member of generation x.

but i guess you wouldn't know, huh, old man?

Queens Crapper said...

I am a member of "Generation X" and never heard that manner of speaking until I was out of college. I never had friends who spoke that way.

You know not of what you speak.

Anonymous said...

Using the word "like" is a Valley Girl thing that was imported across the country until it landed on our shore.

Anonymous said...

I think our friend wade is a slacker, not an Xer, eh wade?

Anonymous said...

but i guess you wouldn't know, huh, old man?

I'm still under 40, "dude", but that doesn't mean I have to adopt the prole mannerisms of my peers and use the word "like" in every sentence!

I also hold doors open for ladies, and I take my hat off indoors, unlike you!

Anonymous said...

Wait till you have kids 'Wade.'

I can just see them doing something like this.

They say the kids always go against their parents. I bet they will not hinge their life on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

This might be a pathetic attempt, but its an attempt at doing something useful.

Anonymous said...

So let me get this straight, clever wise-asses pulling something they see as utilitarian art is awful and just full of self-hype and is not preferable on the subways to gang violence and robberies? It's not a step in the right direction away from that? A lot of these people, artists or not come into the neighborhoods and take their lives into their hands, trying to improve them...maybe even return them to the way you see fit. Yet to you, they're shit as well eh? Talk about people who want it both ways. I got news for you: the fucking Archie Bunkers you want back in these neighborhoods fucked off to the burbs and died years ago and THEY AIN'T COMING BACK! So take a good look around you and be part of the solutions you see fit, instead of sitting here bitching about how it all sucks. Jeeezus H Christ!!!!

Anonymous said...

crappy, please don't be insulted but if you haven't been saying "like" since the early 80's then you were like a nerd, like.

i distinctly remember using the word "like" right around 1983 or 84. all the cool kids did. and it stuck through high school and it's still around today for many.

and wade, your rantings have old man written all over them. under 40? my ass. i don't hold any door for a lady or take off my hat because i'm a dudette.

oh and wade how's your portfolio doing?

Queens Crapper said...

Nope, never said "like" although the word "dis" and "psych" was used quite a bit back in the day.

Anonymous said...

Typical Archie Bunker has to resort to comparing this "art" to "gang violence and robberies" to make his point that the influx of white hipsters is great. Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

Come to think of it, the word "word" was used a lot too, as in "word to your mother."

Anonymous said...

This might be a pathetic attempt, but its an attempt at doing something useful.

Yes, your comments are quite pathetic, and they're not even remotely useful. In fact, your contribution to 'Queens Crap' is analgous to Jason Eppink's attempt at art.

"You are the weakest link. Goodbye!"

i don't hold any door for a lady or take off my hat because i'm a dudette.

You're obviously no lady. It wouldn't surprise me if you have vile tattoos prominently displayed on parts of your body that should be covered.

oh and wade how's your portfolio doing?

In the toilet, like everyone else, but I like to buy my "dollars for 70 or 60 cents". As Baron de Rothschild said, "Buy when there's blood on the streets."

I'll see you in a few years, when I drive my Rolls Royce to the gas station where you're employed, and I'll say: "Premium unleaded, please. And, pardon me, would you happen to know of any fine establishments nearby that sell Grey Poupon?"

Anonymous said...

Hey Wade, real old money doesn't flaunt it. They don't have to. They don't drive around in Rolls ordering Grey Poup mustard or the like.

They just look and act - well normal.

Does a portrait of one or your relatives hang in the White House or the work of another in the great gallerys of the world?

Where they present at great moments of history going back a millenia or did they put their name and necks on the line at milestones in human history?

Perhaps they placed their names on mountains and streams and cities and towns?

No? That is unfair. I will say nothing of potatos.

But its perfectly understandible why you would want to flaunt it.

Unless you are born with it, you never, never, really know, that is if you know what I mean....

Ah, back to clipping my coupons and collecting my royalties from the wells...while you guys sweat to scrape the edges off quarters.

teheehee

The baracades of Queens politics and urban planning, now there is the place for real men (and women)!

you have no idea just how wrong you are.

"I'll see you in a few years, when I drive my Rolls Royce to the gas station where you're employed, and I'll say: "Premium unleaded, please. And, pardon me, would you happen to know of any fine establishments nearby that sell Grey Poupon?"

you are so lame, old man. thats the best you can do?

crappy:

don't remember "dis" but i do remember "psych".

anon:
'Come to think of it, the word "word" was used a lot too, as in "word to your mother."'

yeah if you were black or vanilla ice

Hey Wade, its the taxpayers that are bailing out you bums.

If you all really had to work, you would be little better than this kid with his pathetic attempt at art.

You had better not hope there is blood in the streets.

We have been squeeze dry already by your type.

So it must be yours!

Anonymous said...

i'd like to bet some bailout money that wade will be unemployed in 6 months. then his rantings will finally have a bit of humility in them.

Maybe 'Wade' is aleady unemployed.

Maybe 'Wade' a girl and married the highest bidder.

Maybe 'Wade' doesn't (yet) know what is in store.

Anonymous said...

OK, get back on the thread here crew and stop beating up on Wade.

There is better hunting here and I like some of Wade's other commnets.

Don't chase him away!

Anonymous said...

I saw this and thought "what a moron". Someone ought to tie him up to one of those chairs and just let him sit in the subway forever.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Mr. Mullin!

Don't worry, they won't chase me away! I can "roll with their punches", and throw a few back in their direction just the same!

Anonymous said...

Good: We need people like that.

You are welcome here.

What a bunch of blog bullies posting here today.

Anonymous said...

Whos the 20 somethings defending this self involved goof who should not leave crap on the platform at all.Id really like to grace these kids in person who cant even put a sentence together. He isnt not fixing up the community there kids either by putting chairs there from the bed bug garbage. And Yeah, fight the gang problem with this activity??My god how stupid. And I happen to care about independent arts but this is LOOK at Me ..Chairs.

Anonymous said...
