Campaign sign doubles as wanted poster

The sight of Obama posters in Harlem is really nothing out of the ordinary, but when obviously cropped versions of them appear in store windows, it catches one's attention.
Here's what the other half of the sign looks like. This one was turned into a wanted poster. Many stores have altered the ads this way. Harlem's letting their congressman know what it thinks of him.

Yo gotta love it! Rep. Rangle - time to hang it up and pay your taxes like the little people do?

An Obama poster in Harlem? That's redundant.

Anonymous said...

Rangle is a prominent politician.

Laws don't apply to him.

We should all that by now.

Harlemites vote by party, not name. If Sarah Palin were a Democrat, they'd vote for her, no questions asked.

People in Rangle's district can bitch all they want, but like the previous commenter said, they will keep his corrupt ass in office, term after term.

Someone should put his campaign poster up in the post office. Isn't that where they used to put criminal pictures?

Obomber and the rest of the media savaged "Joe the Plumber" for owing approx. $1200 in back taxes.

Obomber and the rest of the media are silent regarding the tens of thousands of dollars in evaded taxes by Rangel, his illegal use of rent-controlled apartment, evasion of taxes on use of congressional parking, and violation of the campaign finance laws.

I wonder why?

I live in Harlem and would gladly vote for an opponent of Rangle's if any viable opposition candidate existed. I would run myself but I haven't lived here long enough... and by the time I have, I'll probably be priced out of this neighborhood and have to move to the Bronx. Oh well.

What a stupid thing to say thats untrue. Then again this blog has some really dumb comments by some regulars.

1) When was the last time Harlem went Republican?
2) How do you know that comment was made by a "regular"?

Nice stereotyping there wade. You assume people in Harelm dont think for themselves. You prove your biases.

You mean voting for this asshole time and again was a well thought out decision?

Everything Mccain has done in this campaign has been dirty and they cant control Palin who takes pride in calling herself a redneck.Obomber!Thats cute because theres many republicans who have been at meetings with Ayers concerning helping schools in poor areas of Chicago.By the way coming from a family with military service why dont you read the new Village Voice article about Mccains huge lack of support for veterans over many years in funding of VA's and community support. Its not the first to interview veterans who have had meetings with MCcain and been upset about turning his back on them.

The original question posed was on topic:

"Obomber and the rest of the media are silent regarding the tens of thousands of dollars in evaded taxes by Rangel, his illegal use of rent-controlled apartment, evasion of taxes on use of congressional parking, and violation of the campaign finance laws.

I wonder why?"

No answer?

So, genius, remind me again what % of blacks have indicated to pollsters that they will vote for Obama?

Ever taken a social psychology course, or read any literature on the topic? Even social psychologists admit that stereotypes have "kernels of truth" to them.

Do you avert your eyes whenever you see "stereotypical behavior"? Remember that next time you're walking alone at 4AM, and a guy with a doo-rag is walking towards you with a switchblade in his hand, "cleaning his teeth". But you'd rather not engage in sterotypes, would you?

I like reading the comments about Harlem residents coming from residents of a borough that elected Donald Manes, Brian McLaughlin and Anthony Seminerio.

Nice.

How do you know the comments are coming from residents of Queens?

Oh they are coming from Queens. The proud know it all simple thinking spells it out. Many black people have said they dont care for Rangels antics.

Well Wade again anyone knows there kernals of truth in stereotypes but theres a fine line where that becomes a little presumptuous.Obama will be held critically, and thats been admitted by Cornel West and other black writers which is more than I can say about bush being held responsible for anything.
Fine mess there leaving for Obama if hes in.10 billion a month to Iraq for oil contractors.Should be fun paying that off for the next 90 years. That helped Wall st im sure.

Now who's stereotyping? I guess this type of comment could only come from someone who lives in Queens. You are no better than the person who left the comment.

Yes, I agree with you, absolutely NO ONE in the media is holding Bush responsible for anything! The NY Times, John Stewart, Daily News, The Nation, New Republic, Noam Chomsky, Daily Kos, etc. etc. have said nary a peep about anything Bush is doing or has done!

As for Cornell West, you mean the so-called "professor" who's barely written anything remotely academic in nature, and has spent more time with trivial projects such as putting out a rap CD?

Keep pumping out your mindless screeds, it gives us all an opportunity to witness the ravings of a lunatic! Plus, you're the poster child for the failings of the public school system, and a great advertisement for private and parochial schools!

Funny!

Yes keep pumping out those"screeds" Wade so I can be amazed at your rabid pseudo literate comments as others have noted about you.You sound like your heads going to explode but you think your rational.
Has Bush been held responsible in a legal manner for the atrocious spending, mishandling of accounting of the private sector, or anything else in the mainstream media or govt that can hold him in hearings.
Have you heard Cornel West speak or even read any of his books lately?I doubt it Wade. And by the way,I went to private schools so your WRONG again. And use the term charlatan correctly.Critical investigation of govt failures does not equal your opinion of quack.Yo, you go Wadster.
Tell me Wade, does Fox news owned by Robert Ailes who worked for George Bush senior(conflict of intrest) have more power than some small independent paper like the Nation? Can the NYT bring any proper leagl investigation to bush in his complete economical, financial failures that have ruined the dollar? No i guess thats someone elses fault.Hilarious buddy.
Ever heard of Winter soilder?Go talk to those Iraq vets buddy and see there opinion of these foreign policies and domestic schism.

I don't have time for trivial nonsense, from Cornel West, to your infantile screeds.

You belong in the dustbin of history, as the Marxists would say.

I wouldn't be so antsy for a "revolution" if I were you. If such revolution ever comes, you'll be the first one against the wall.
