After nearly four years in the making, a brand new Astoria and Long Island City map and event guide is making its debut in our borough. Officials say they hope the map gets city residents aware of some of Queens's hidden treasures.

I see the city is still employing people with the artistic skills of 5 year olds for their rendering work. Awesome!
Come see the Adderandack building which is now pianos some empty overpriced condos close to the projects a few blocks away, or the smell of the sewer at 3am flowing in the air from the east river, and visit my dumb ass thug Guyanese neighbors on the block who yell at everyone who walks by there over filled house of relatives.Dont forget to check the astorian page for dinner suggestions at the local overpriced corner neuvo restauraunt\tapas, rat dropping special of the day.Theres also fishing at the Costco parking lot on the river all night long.Get reservations early because the electrical grid cant handle anymore..
"Come and visit diversely vibrant
(yadda, yadda) Queens and discover its hidden treasures"!
Flushing's "treasures" aren't very hidden. Just follow your nose (puke)!
This is the sort of PR/BS that
drips off the lips of those patronage job biggies in a futile attempt to bring (yawn) tourism to Queens.
Not so futile for the overpaid executive directors who run
organizations like the "Queens Council On The Arts".
They reap some very lucrative pay checks.
Hello Terri Osborne!
What's your annual salary these days ?
After spending $$$$$$$$$ on airfare and hotel accommodations I don't think that the average tourist will veer off the Manhattan corridor to view the second rate attractions
that our borough has to offer.
Not when there's the Metropolitan Museum, South Street Seaport and the like on the golden isle!
Tourism is just another clubhouse
scam to reward its past boosters with patronage jobs in their golden years!
The rest of those hacks get reshuffled around the political playing card deck like Marge Markey!
It took them four years to make this thing? Judging from the third rate artwork, it couldn't possibly have been that difficult to create. This is supposed to attract tourists to Queens? Despite apparently not being geographically accurate in the least, the map lists "attractions" that are likely to be demolished within the next few years to make way for more crap! What a joke! This borough is a joke, this map is a joke, our politicians aren't even worth mentioning, and we are quickly becoming the laughing stock of the state! The tourists who this map are meant to attract here are probably even laughing at us! Take your map and your new crappy Queens, and shove them up your asses!

(remember they are appointed by those appointed by the queens machine. look at the gene pool at the top. it gets no better as you go down the food chain.)

(talked to a young hipster organizing concerts that told me no one, let me repeat, no one, comes to Queens except to PS1 or the Beer Garden)

(in that sense, this map is a breakthough. instead of "two coves", a developer's creation, it actually has "old astoria village". rub their neaderthal noses in it)

(oh do post on Astorians.com. they are in such denial that a sewage plant that has been stinking up their community for years does not exist, and when their noses were rubbed into it, they said the locals affected should move so the politicians no longer have a problem)
When Marge Markey worked for Claire Shulman's office she oversaw one of the first cultural/tourist maps of Queens!
She's come a long way, sucking every dick (politically speaking) she can, to remain in that high paying loop of political mediocrity
I cannot imagine why any tourist would come to Queens. Outside of the airports, professional baseball and the US Tennis Open, there is nothing for these people to see or do.

The stilted offical culture in Queens is not really a serious program but photo ops and a chance for inept loser hacks like Terri (who has an attitude as big as her incompetence) to make some money until they can place her in a safe political office like our little Margie!
Content - you gotta be kiddin.' Political (correct tweeder) agenda, now thats the ticket.
no, this map is good.
i dont think terri had anything to do with it.

Actually, if you do go to Astorians.com, you will see that MANY of the posters were not in denial of the fact that there is a sewage plant in their backyard because they have been dealing with the smells for quite some time now while "repairs" are being made. Not everyone in Astoria is ignorant to the problems of this city. What? You think that Middle village and Ridgewood residents are the only ones that complain when something goes wrong, and the only ones that are bothered by the way the city is run?
This map was produced by the NYC Parks Dept / City Parks Foundation Partnership for Parks "Catalyst Project" to bring the 50,000-100,000 new residents in Astoria-LIC to the waterfront parks, and there is a version en espanol.
