Hooray for Hiram!

Councilman/Senator-in-waiting Hiram Monserrate publicly declared his opposition to Mayor Bloomberg's term limits extension bill this afternoon, bringing the "no" tally to 20.

Make That 20

Good deal - Hiram may already know the 3 terms amendment will not sit well with the majority of the people whom will not be steamrolled on this issue.

Monserrate's stance is admirable, but I don't think he's the sort of person you'd want on "our team" opposing Bloomberg.

It's a bit like saying, "Great, Joe Stalin and the Russians are on our side against Hitler and the Germans!"

Wow, Wade, what do you mean by that, for curiosity's sake? so many ways i can take that comment.

Perhaps a bit of a harsh analogy, Monserrate's obviously not comparable to Stalin, but he's no saint either. He has his own "slush fund" problems. See here:

And also, I don't wish to compare Bloomberg to Hitler either.

I noticed that you praised Monserrate for his vote, yet you minimized Como's vote by adding a (finally). I think you should leave your personal agenda aside and give credit to those who have stood up to the mayor.

Sorry, I expect more from my own councilman than "undecided." And I will comment how I see fit, being this is America and all. But thanks for your input.
