Astoria rock throwers damage cars

On a recent Sunday morning, Loretta Csikortos walked out of her Astoria home on 23rd Street between Ditmars Boulevard and 23rd Avenue, and found her son’s red Ford Mustang with a shattered windshield and a dented trunk.

The next morning, two of her neighbors found their cars in a similar condition - one had a busted roof and the other had dents all over it.

All three vehicles had been damaged by baseball-sized rocks hurled during the night from Amtrak’s railbed along the Hell Gate trestle stretching over the houses, according to Csikortos.

It’s raining rocks in Astoria

The rock throwers are hired by owners of car glass/windsheild repair shops. When your windshield is broken you are going to the closest place to get it fixed. We had this situation in Woodside.

It should rain little lead rocks at high speeds at the rock throwers

It's been happening in Howard Beach recently too...

Rocks thru windwhields, side view mirrors broken off, cars tagged with spraypaint, keyed, etc....

Cars have been destroyed that way in that location for decades. I don't think its kids--rather the trains dislodge rocks.

Happened on my old block a few years ago, which is nowhere near the Hell Gate trestle.
