Hell, no!

Not only is this thing ugly but it is out of scale and out of character for the neighborhood.

Hubba Hubba: The New Museum's Self-Love Celebration

It says "Hell, Yes!" in rainbow letters across the front, too.

I've seen this abortion
while I was on an architectural
photo safari along the Bowery.

It looks like a
bastardized version of a"Toys-R-Us"!

There are quite a few gable roofed federal period houses (1820s!) still surviving in this neighborhood
but it doesn't seem for very long.

i like it. could be a sanrio creation.

Indeed. It looks more like something from downtown Tokyo, rather than The Bowery. But I suppose that's the point, the museum is probably trying to appeal to "ironic hipsters". Whatever.

Like it or not, QCrap readers might find it interesting to go to the New Museum website to view the fast-action video of this building's construction--there IS a water tower in there. One could add a voice-over soundtrack of "crap, crap, crap, crap" repeated over and over, and put it up on YouTube or somewhere. Call it capital A, Art; Or capital C, Crap.

Yesterday the second L wasn't lit up. Mistake or message?

All the recent construction projects in Queens remind me of buildings in SimCity.

I would purposely place awful looking buildings next to small housing or apartments just to make things interesting looking.

However, I used cheat codes in the game to not struggle when the populace complained. I don't think the city has a cheat code like Rosebud!;!;

me thinks the Queens Crapper is so full of crap.

Our neighborhoods are full of crap, and the Crapper puts them up for the world to see what a joke NYC has become under this mayor. We used to have the best architecture in the world. Now we just have crap piles, like this one.

this is actually a very cool building. i guess you guys would prefer the architect to stay true to the bowery tenement flophouse context.

Some architects have all the imagination of a five year old stacking a couple of staggered building blocks and slapping an ugly rainbow sticker on it. I'm glad someone brought this pre-k vision to the Bowery.

I build ugly shit for a living and this makes even me want to hurl.

A large sign addressed to the city of New York reading "FUCK YOU!" would seem more appropriate. But I guess they don't have to hang anything on the building to tell us that.

UGLY/FUGLY !!!

Methinks I've done better with my "Leggos" on the kitchen table!

Well if this is a product of what comes out of our architechural schools in this day and age we are certainly not in the golden era of taste and urban design.

No wonder the mainline preservationists seem powerless to do anything.

I'd take that building any day over the steaming shit piles being built in Queens.
