Gov says no to commuter tax

Governor David Paterson dismissed talks of bringing back New York City's commuter tax.

...a spokesperson for the governor released a statement opposing the tax, saying in part, "The governor is not considering taxes. He's continuing the process he began when he took office, to bring the state's revenues in line with spending."

In other news, David Paterson has been credited with "bringing sexy back to New York State".

Previously, Justin Timberlake was erroneously credited.

We apologize for the error.

WE NEED THE COMMUTER TAX REINSTATED!

RIGHT NOW WE SPEND OUR NYC TAX DOLLARS ON NON NYC RESIDENTS THAT WORK AND USE OUR SERVICES.

Governor is spending more on his personal staff than Spitzer?

Why is the office of Lt Governor still funded when we don't have LT. Governor?

Maybe they're keeping that seat warm for Dennis Gallagher to fill the post!

At least he's got some old time experience (or is it sex-perience with "old timers")?

That's the one thing our muppet governor has done right. I'm still pissed that he passed legislation taxing internet purchases.

You people in favor of this latest tax have it all wrong. Non-NYC residents already pay for whatever services that they use. It's called a train ticket. Or subway/bus fare. Or combination of the same. Or bridge/tunnel tolls. That covers transportation

And whatever they buy here is taxed. Wherever they work, their employers are taxed. That covers emergency services.

Sheldon Silver fucking FLIES to Albany, which is several times more expensive than taking the train or driving. Charlie Wrangle triple-dips into the city's subsidized housing inventory. And that's just the shit we know about.

No, the City doesn't need to be fed more tax money. Period. It's like giving heroin to a junkie. The city (and the state) needs to get its spending in order, rein in corrupt politicians and let all of us keep more of what we earn.
