MTA stupidity gets noticed

Here's a good one from Transit Blogger re: the decision to not build promised subway stops in Hell's Kitchen along the 7 line extension:

The idiocy behind this decision amazes me & that is saying something. First off, what is with the ridiculous notion that a mass transit project “has to” spur growth in designated areas? What happened to the simple concept of such project additions/extensions being built to help people already in the designated areas? If the creation or extension of mass transit infrastructure simply relies on this flawed logic, we as a nation are in deep trouble.

Not sure about the nation, but the City is definitely in deep crap.

It is mindblowing that no station will be built on ninth or tenth avenue. There's been close to a dozen residential towers put up from 9th to the river in the west 40's over the past decade. The subway extension is basically just a spur from Times Square to 34th. Quite a disservice to ignore the needs of these residents.

The NYC subway system is a disgrace! It may run 24/7 and be one of the largest in the world, but it is terribly filthy and hostile to outsiders.

It should at leat be built at 10th Ave. Think long term not short sighted.
