Oh G, there's no train on weekends for a month!

From Transit Blogger:

MTA NYC Transit announces that due to several maintenance projects, G service is suspended for four consecutive weekends, January 15-18, January 22-25, January 29-February 1 and February 5-8 from 10:30 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

Customers traveling between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Queens Plaza during the day should take the R; during the late night hours take the E. The free shuttle buses operate between Queens Plaza and Jay Street. For service to Church Avenue, customers should transfer between the shuttle bus and F trains at Jay Street.

The G never worked right anyway. We always go through Manhattan to get to Brooklyn.

How do you paralyze a hipster? Suspend service on the G, L and N lines at the same time, and get rid of the bike lanes.

This story shouldn't even be posted on QUEENS crap since the G train now only makes 2 stops in Queens thanks to the infinite wisdom of the MTA.

Actually late nights and weekends, it does.

On paper it goes to Continental nights and weekends, but in practice it's almost always cut back to Court Square because of "track work."

If it wasn't for outspoken straphangers, what is still left of the G would have gone the way of the Culver Shuttle and the 8 Train.
