On a tear at Elmhurst Park

Back in September 2008, the future Elmhurst Park (former gas tanks site) was starting to look inviting.

Now phase 2 is underway, and it looks like this:

Here's the funny thing..."phase 2" was supposed to be the result of community input after phase 1 was completed, but no one can remember any meetings or surveys held by the Parks Dept in 2008 or 2009 that asked for residents' opinions about what they wanted there. Parks just decided to put a maintenance HQ and artificial turf there. Who needs meetings? This is just what we always wanted!

They just love to spend our tax dollars. Maybe they are planning on putting a soccer feild there for all the illegals who can't find day laborer jobs????

Plant it full of plants and then fence it off. Toxic waste never sleeps.

Who decided on the bland Elmhurst Park moniker? Gas Tanks Park is more coloful.

is this the work of our queens parks commiss?? she sucks and they better not put a damn soccer field, they have juniper park for that.. it was suppose to be a walk through park with plants and trees and benches.. it started to look nice and then they tore it apart.. where the hell is the mayor on this one?? waste of tax money!

What a great gig these park "jobs" are. How many more years of Bloomburg until it's over?

This park should have been opened already. I am not sure why they made the park so weird looking?

They have better police this park, as the house adjacent to Verizon is a brothel that cater to illegal day workers. The men frequently play soccer while they wait to be entertained. The Park would help house them with the overflow crowds the house sees.

What is going on with this park? Months ago, when I passed it looked almost complete. Last week, it was all ripped up, sections of newly placed fencing have been ripped down, etc... Who is the contractor and what are there ties? What is the cost of what's going on? Maybe some fields going in for the soon to be built school down the block?

What does cb5 say?

Doesn't matter what CB5 has to say. It's in CB4.
