Sources tell NY1 that a roofer was electrocuted this afternoon in Queens.
According to family members, William Barrett, 28, was raising an aluminum ladder onto a home on 117th Street in College Point, when it came in contact with a wire.
He was taken to New York Hospital in Queens, where he was pronounced dead.
Barrett was employed by a small, private roofing company.

Diversity and hipsters in College Point???
Pass me some of what you're smoking.
I agree...hipsters in CP or "garbage point" as its known ??? !
Who's your supplier? I want some too!
My vanilla Dutch is waiting to be filled up!
How sick are you people??? This is a tragedy. Stop making judgements and appreciate that an incredible young man is gone. Billy was a great guy, good friend and son. His child will never know him, his mother has to grieve the loss of her child, which is unimaginable, as a mother myself. Have some respect and if you can't find other ways to waste your time.
God Bless his family, girlfriend, child & friends! Billy you will be missed! DMW
Roofing is a tough line of work.
I haven't used an aluminum ladder in 20 years. R.I.P
That's why you use fiberglass ladders near powerlines.
