Mike to announce more layoffs, hike in sales tax

From Eyewitness News:

Friday will not be a good day for nearly 4,000 New York City workers.

Mayor Bloomberg is expected to announce plans for more layoffs during a news conference on Friday.

The job cuts are just one of the bad line-item bits of news expected when the mayor unveils his new budget and tries to close a deficit.

Sources say the Bloomberg plan will result in 3,750 more layoffs, most through attrition, in city agencies.

However, no teachers or members of uniformed services will be laid off. All totaled, there will be a loss of 13,500 jobs.

...and yet he wants to be reelected, and the Republicans are stupid enough to back him.

Sales taxes are very regressive and hit the poor disproportionatly.

SHOW ME THE MONEY! this man claimed to be the saviour of the city.. i'm a millionaire and i know how to budget so on and so on. well dumb ass where did you put all the fxxking money in the stock market? now he wants to tax everything and everybody. he needs to be put down....

Bloomberg will announce 3,750 layoffs.

But he won't announce the 6,750 political hacks that he'll immediately hire as part of his staff, and the 15% raises that they'll receive since they are "essential" and perform such important work for the City.

Government NEVER gets any smaller, even in a depression.

What? Say it isn't so! His plethora of TV spots that are bombarding the airwaves clearly show the mayor assuring is that his 3rd term administration will create or maintain 400,000 jobs. Am I missing something here? How many millions are being spent in April for a November election?

His campaign ads are the first thing that comes to my mind too, making NYC more affordable to live in, he is such a liar how could he try to sell NY'rs to re-elect him in an ad turn around and do the opposite. He is such a joke.

bloomberg is the biggest liar going and he needs to get thrown out already! i can't wait till someone new gets in and really see's what this ass and his staff have been up to. SPECIAL INTEREST! just wondering how much stock he owns on the the condos that went up?? how many properties under domain he owns? why no one has investergated this a hole already. don't recall any other mayor doing this to nyc...

From the looks of things, Mikey seems to be running unopposed. He's inundating the airwaves -- both TV and radio -- and I've even seen an ad on my Yahoo home page. The next thing you know, he'll be beaming his lying message directly into our brains. Make it stop, already!

But what makes him such a financial genius? Granted, he's feelthy rich, but that's because
he's an entrepreneur who made billions pushing financial data, not actually handling money like a brokerage or a bank. Am I missing something? If that's the case, it doesn't necessarily mean that he has a grasp of the markets any better than Joe Schmoe.

This should be in the category "Great news from the Bloomberg administration"

This man is the smartest human being ever. A financial genius! After many days and weeks of all nighters, he and his talented staff came up with the plan! Are you ready to hear it? Ok here I go: LAYOFF WORKERS AND RAISE TAXES. Can you believe it? Brilliant. No one ever would have been able to come up with such a genuine plan as that. Forget about a 3rd term let’s just make him King so he and his court can rule over us forever.

I agree. Tony Avella is the best choice. A man of, by, and for the people.

My newest youtube on Mike Bloomberg's aggressive phone campaign which has begun and if you don't answer like a robot and said YES I WILL VOTE FOR THE MAYOR they want to convince you that you must!!!

Another nail in Bloomberg's political coffin!

A great way to make friends and influence voters.

First he fires almost 4,000 employees. Then Dumb-berg says he'll be creating new jobs!

Yeah...right!

Bloomberg taketh away then Bloomberg giveth!

When are you selling the Brooklyn Bridge your honor?

Oh you're just selling off shares of it!

How can we really say that 4 more years of this elitist mayor is good for all of us New Yorkers?

Look at what 8 years of his inept micro managing has done for us already...put us in the poor house!

It's done plenty for his cadre of wealthy real estate buddies though!

Let's fire the lier!

Your chance will be coming this November!

Don't blow it!

I love how he's been speaking in Spanish during the last few press conferences. He should be so ashamed of himself. Is it not obvious what he's doing? I really hope Hispanic New Yorkers don't fall for his crap.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 400,000 JOBS YOU ARE BRINGING IN?

OH I GET IT, ILLEGALS.

My favorite is his attempt to dress casually in his commercials. He looks ridiculous. Who told him how to dress, "blue collar," it is stiff, artificial, and patronizing.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Why is he advertising so much now? He must be insecure about something. Maybe he is trying to lull NYers into a false sense of security? Who ever starts spending so much in April for a late year election? He is laying off thousands of city workers while spending millions on his ego-driven campaign. I sure hope the sheeple wake up soon!

Egg-zactly! As I've said before in my comments, he's trying to come across as Joe Everyman. Don't fall for it!

"I hear it when I take the subway. I hear it when I walk the streets and neighborhoods." Oh, puh-lease! Thursday was probably the first time in a year that he rode the subway -- just for a photo op to show that it isn't full of swine flu. I'm guessing that he was covered head-to-toe with Scotch-Gard beforehand, and as soon as he exited he was whisked away and scrubbed off with jasmine-scented Clorox by his lackeys.

And I concur with georgetheatheist. We Queensites would love to have you here,
Suzannah B. Troy. Live with us among the Queens crap every day.

NO3RD TERM GO AWAY

Suzannah B.Troy. Here's some free advice.

Why be a SMALL fish [you] in a BIG pond [Manhattan], when you can be a BIG fish in a SMALL pond [Queens]?

Move to Queens. A true artistic endeavor. Done all the time. (Goethe even travelled to Italy.)

Then...

...run for Borough President!..

...on the Republican ticket.

[Ragusa are you paying attention here?]

Whaddya say?

Suzannah, being from Manhattan, you have the perfect opportunity to spread the word there.
We love Avella here in Queens, but we need the other four boroughs to know and love him as well.

P.S. Love your videos.

Bloomscuz: you've GOT to go! (And take Joel Klein with you.)

Please support Bloomberg running on the Ceiling on Your Head Party Line. We want to continue the successful Bloomberg policies that have made New York the Building Collapse capital of the world.

In the past 400-years of New York history pre-Bloomberg, New York struggled to have even two or three major building collapses yearly. Today we have ramped up the number to several dozen per month.

This has freed up valuable open space for new construction, as well as providing hospitals and funeral homes with badly needed revenue during these difficult times.

Vote Ceiling on your Head for open space preservation Now!

Met a man today in manhattan at a seminar and bloomberg's name came up and i expressed my opinion on about him and this elderly man got so mad at me, lmao told him why do you care everyone is entitled to their own opinions and vote for him but you can't change my mind. he went on how great bloomberg is and he's done so much for the city. I just laughed and said yeah sure, laid off close to 3000, raised taxes, and wants to raise gas. Guess he didn't like that he walked out. I think it was bloomberg's daddy.

Why should she move from Manhattan to Queens - land of the doormat?

The very fact that you want her to move here shows a real problem in Queens - a lack of creativity and imagination (that is common in the other boroughs) and translates into their image of Queens where everyone just stands and whines and expects someone else to do their fighting for them.

She would be a fool to move here.

You are not going to get someone to do the dirty work that you are unable, or unwilling, to do yourselves.

Prove YOU have backbone first!
