Queenscape, part 1

Here is one of those photos that perfectly sums up the borough of Queens - a commercial truck parked in a residential driveway alongside a tree that's been reduced to nothing more than a stump.

wow, reminds me of some folks that live down the block. at last count they have 7 cars. two abandoned in the back taking up spots they could use for real cars, two commercial vehicles with the commercial plates, and 3 regular cars...

RE Commercial plates: Might not help, BUT if the vehicles with commercial plates are in a driveway and visible at night, call your local Precinct - they can write them tickets

OK - stop laughing

I said "CAN" I didn't say "WOULD"

You are right about this - it is sooo Queens.

And I bet the buildings are full of immigrants who will just shrug if you point it out.

Chances are they either own the building and are milking if for all its worth, or already have plans to move to their cousin's place in Buffalo right after the schools let out for summer.

It might not make a community, but does create the dynamics to insure the machine stays in place.

Kind of makes all that talk about a green Queens sound hollow, just like everything else we hear and read about the boro.
