Queens tenants living in hell sue landlord

Have a tenant horror story for you. Tenants at 84-53 Dana Court in Queens have been living in disgusting squalor for months thanks to their negligent landlord who has let garbage pile up inside and outside the building and refuses to address the rats, cockroaches, mice infestations as well as water damage and mold. Mgmt company has also been harassing tenants, sending them fake bills for rent. One tenant’s daughter is actually afraid to go in the hallway because a rat once bit her. Tenants believe landlord just wants them out.

The landlord, Highpoint Associates run by Donald Ammons, who has been on the Worst Landlord List multiple times, fired the super back in September 2020 and now garbage continues to pile up inside and outside the apartment, causing a rat infestation among other issues. The landlord has racked up more than $800,000 in fines and fees, according to our calculations, and over 400 building violations. The tenants have sued the landlord for repairs and have a court date on Friday, May 20. 6sqft covered this landlord before here. Tenants are willing to talk to you and show you the building this week ahead of the court date. Thanks.

Why would you live like that ?
Get together and clean the place up and deal with the Landlord in court !
I still sweep the curb in front of my home/wash my stoop and people stare at me.

Buy some garbage bags and clean the mess up !
Use Biden's Child Tax Credit money that the hard working tax payers are giving you.

Where are the Left leaning activists ? Organize a clean up or chip in $5 a week and hire someone to clean it up until this matter gets resolved. Lazy NYC people sicken me.

It's funny how civics in our community, most of which do not even have a web page, always entitle themselves as 'Tenants Assoc' or 'Citizen for' or the like, then come out for the most bizarre things like bike lanes or massive development. Issues that rate a 911 never come up.

Their events are always graced with a rare unusual visit by a local politician, in person(!), who talks with pride and solidarity on what citizens can do and they, in turn, profusely thank the politician for 'generous support' and caring deeply for the community. Then they get a $5000 grant to pick up trash in a park, waterfront, wherever.

It is really nice as little kids are almost always present, getting their first taste in civics, or should we say BS civic engagement, Queens style.

You should see what they are doing at Phipps Garden. Disgraceful stuff sent around and as usual, not a peep by Jimmy or Cathy.

Whatever happened to the Sanitation law that says garbage cans must be covered? Why doesn't the city ban plastic garbage bags? Dogs, cats, rats, racoons, birds and can and bottle people rip them open creating a food source for the vermin.

Like their hero Stalin
DEM's are using the "scorched earth" tactic to get rid of the middle class.

Instead of bitching about the problem and letting the shit pile up, how about all the tenants chip in, bag the garbage and bring it to the curb for collection?

BETTER YET LEAVE IT WITH THEIR COMMUNITY BOARD AND OFFICES OF THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND CALL THE PRESS AND SEND AROUND PICTURES TO LOCAL BLOGS.

WE DON'T PAY TAXES TO DO THE WORK OURSELVES WHILE THEY ARE APPLIED TO HELP THE WOKE AND THE RICH.

___

Funny how the woke hipsters never once think that they are taking away the job from someone who needs it and would do it for minimum wage.
