Please turn your Brooklyn down, we're tryin' to sleep ova heah

Okay, 5 hours ago was pretty early in the morning. Don't you folks sleep? Oh, sorry, you couldn't because of these assholes. In all seriousness, this isn't just a Brooklyn thing, it's happening ALL OVER the damn city and Queens is getting more than its fair share.

Why is absolutely nothing done about this? The progressives want cars banned yet have nothing to say about this wackadoo culture, which affects not "pedestrians," "cyclists" or "drivers" but people trying to sleep in their own beds?

It's a lot easier for these spineless wokeist bike lobbies and weasel "reporters" from Streetsblog plus the car abolisher hive to whine on social media and infiltrate the Department of Transportation to induce street "reimaginings" than to actually get in people's faces and tell them that they are menaces to society for owning a vehicle. Particularly of the Black and Latino persuasion.

But if you look at this scene, all these scofflaws are doing is reimagining the street they are gathering and making noise on as an open street too.

What's wrong with the Holden guy - why can't he tell everyone to call 911? That is why they set it up to get the heat off politicians.

There is no time for meddling in that when he should be collecting campaign donations and doing favors for the right people and taking part in woke events to build the Party - this is the real work of every NYC politician and takes every scrap of time.

You can't do your job helping the public while you are ticking off support groups of his fellow Democrats.

Meanwhile, the Legacy Media keeps squirting lighter fluid onto the fire.
The demand for Racism has exceeded the supply, telling someone to be quiet is RaCiSt !

"Why is absolutely nothing done about this?"

What can be done? The residents of this city have made it perfectly clear that this behavior is to be tolerated in this city.

If the cops go in there and summons and arrest people (many of whom are minorities) there is going to be outrage about police harassment. Not to mention when one of these geniuses resist arrest and force has to be lawfully used. The police will be blamed for it, sued, and have complaints filed against them and it may even spark more "peaceful protests".

If everyone really is bothered by this and wants the city to be brought back under control it starts next month by voting in the primaries politicians that will support the police and not the criminals, and will get the city back on track.

But of course this will not happen by the voters of the city, so it proves the point that most residents of the city have no problem with this behavior.

Pathetic. It's great the Mystery Mike can get rid of Amazon and Bishop Taylor can push for development projects but where in the hell is Astoria's leadership here? Even Old Astoria civic tells you to get help but gives no one in the community to call. Not seen anything from any civic or the community board. Where are the bike nuts? The park advocates?

Any leadership in Astoria? Those looking to replace Costa? AOC? Anyone home?

Now of course if you want a development project in Astoria things are a bit different...

Is street "reimaginings" the UN Agenda 2030: A Recipe for Global Socialism ?

Someone please tell me what's up with these custom mufflers, the back fire ones. I guess in this age of extended adolescence, we shouldn't be surprised that grown men decide to reimagine themselves as race car drivers. However, it has become a public menace. Drag racing through streets at all hours, driving recklessly, and making noise. This is some people's idea of fun. But nobody's doing anything. So these people continue to "express themselves" at the expense of others. Welcome to New Woke City

As a police officer I can tell you right now that zero can or will be done about this. No cop is gonna pull into a crowd of minority youths and start writing tickets.
If they write 100 tickets and everything goes smoothly, next week, month, year some politician / activist will bring up the stats that the police gave a higher % of tickets to black/brown then whites.
Or
If they try to write a ticket and the kids refuse to hand over their documents . Then what. You gonna arrest the kids for loud music? AOC won’t have that. It’s just a quality of life issue.

This is the city everyone wanted. It’s not about ‘Defunding the police’. It’s the decriminalized society we live in now. It’s the way it is.
Most police agree with removing them from schools and mental health situations. This city calls them for everything.

Loud music on the streets at 5am? Call a community leader. Call a reverend. Call a teacher. All these people seem to know better anyway.
It’s gonna be a long summer. Enjoy!

From what it looks like in the accompanying picture that's a large crowd of people and cars one complaint is made why isn't the police there to break it up and issue summons and or arrest

They can put in bike lanes no one uses, speed cameras, and Citibikes.

But when it comes to mayhem by the Woke Crowd let's look the other way.

Judging by some of the comments above, this is obviously the fault of cyclists. People can call 911 all they want. Officer FatAss is too busy on his phone checking up on the latest outrage on Queens Trumpanzee Crap.

Yes. Call 311 and record the complaint number you have been given. Then follow up to see when and how the response was made. i.e. https://portal.311.nyc.gov/check-status/

Also, who are the NCO officers for this sector of the precinct. Call them!

@Bored

You judged wrong. The blame is being directed at these orthodox open street/bike lobbies and advocates who blab on about car culture destroying the city but ignore this particular brand of car culture that goes on here and in parking lots.

I appreciate your readership, input and takes, but Trump has no relevance to this story here and on this blog in general, you really got to move on.

Looks like white supremacy as usual

A message for New Yorkers: Your police have no support from the courts or the elected politicians in you city. You elected them, all of you who are crying for relief. Who in their right mind would want to serve you as a police officer. Suffer, New Yorkers!

Just curious. What is the average pay for a NYC cop, inspector, commander, detective, et al.? Might a new Police Commissioner T.Roosevelt be needed?

This is what happens when you DEFUND the Police

and DEFEND and PROTECT this reckless Criminal behavior with no regard for Public Safety.

CRIMINALS and LAWBREAKERS RUN this City and with no end in sight.

WELCOME To the NEW VIOLENT NYC!!!!

Criminals, Con Artists, Homeless Drug Addicts, Violent Perpetrators come First,

Tax-Payers and Law Abiding Citizens DEAD LAST on the list.

No taxes for blaxes!
Welcome to Zuid Afrika NYC - White tax donkeys do all the useful work and get all the summonses and traffic tickets while the "victims" get affirmative action promotions and a get out of jail free card for everything.
You voted for it. Now suck it up and eat it

@ JQ LLC said... I get very upset about this particular brand of "Car culture" in the new Fort Totten and Little Bay Park parking lots. The lots need to be locked after sunset to prevent their shenanigans that go on until the wee hours. Most but not all are interlopers destroying our peace and quiet in Whitestone.

Vibrant! Diverse! Just so New York! What charm!
